The Community patch 1.71 can be an unofficial patch, derived from various fixes and game adjustments through the works of various NWN community members and authored by Shadooow.
I dare to convey that this update would be the largest bunch of fixes and unique features whatsoever. It took over year to get all of this together and detect/eliminate any problems that could been raised that way. But the actual and I hope that community understand why effort.
This patch works almost exactly the same as official patches in past. The only difference is this fact Community patch doesnt get a new game version and is also fully suitable for the previous official patch version 1.69, so players without it's still able to experience servers using the patch and the opposite way round. Also, players without patch is still able to see and connect to some patched server in gamespy server list. Installing onto pre-1.69 game version may perhaps be possible, but wasnt tested and it is not recommmended. The same goes for installing which has a game without expansions.
This patch is fully suitable for any custom content like CEP, PRC, Project Q, etc. This means that in case you install this patch, existing custom content will never break, everything will still work fine. Obviously you can't take advantage of all in the patch features and fixes and soon you or CEP/PRC/Project Q team merge various 2da files and spell scripts. This is usual for any standard patch.
Some with the features of this patch are of more direct use to builders than players, and many in the changes are optional.
The files with the NWN Community Patch 1.71 are still hosted about the Neverwinter Vault.
