Omnipage Pro 12 likes to crash. So much so, that it's impossible to batch convert a folder of files to Adobe image with text, which will be the only really useful Adobe Acrobat format. Here we are in 2003, and software developers still havent established how to gracefully exit their programs in the event the unexpected happens. Ominpage Pro 12 just cannot deal with Adobe formats well. Review the user groups on Scansofts website, and you may see two major difficulty with its Acrobat compatibility. The first is when you use Scansoft while on an image file. Importing file, capturing the link, and saving the file image with text and that is supposed to avoid wasting the ORIGINAL image with searchable background text causes the look to degrade. Dont ask me why, but the picture in the output file isn't the same quality as the style. Moreover, when accuracy of scanning counts, OP12 is beside useless for my purposes. Thats because it is extremely weak on certainly not straight text. Superscripts all appear like quotation marks into it and subscripts all end up as commas. It is also weak with any kind of special symbols or equations. Nor will there be any way to take care of these mistakes within the editing process - - youre compelled to edit the PDFs with Adobe Acrobat, an exceptionally slow and laborious process. If you might have material with as much superscripts, subscripts, and special symbols because the typical academic article, really it is faster to retype it rather than try to practice it with OP12.
