Good tool, though I possess a question: if I were to reboot Windows and I forgot to seal Opera properly, would the tool still get rid of the Temp folder?
The reason Im asking it is that I used Opera USB on school computers, and theres a tendency I can accidentally forget my profile data on that computer.
After Opera closes, it is going to delete the rest of the files. But sometimes Windows forces the Opera Portable program to absolve, therefore it has no opportunity to delete files. So its better in case you remember to shut Opera before turning off.

IMPORTANT TIP on shrinking the file size!!! - - I found that my ophome file was taking on about 1700k even though I trimmed down my emails on the bare essentials. Two things I found that made a tremendous difference my ophome is actually 695k were 1: the cache4 folder within the profile folder. And 2: the lexicon folder inside the mail folder. They are both really unnecessary for operation. - - The lexicon results are only for quickly moving searches thru your emails. If you might have opera portable ignore the two of these folders if this compresses/stores the ophome file, youd experience a great decrease inside ophome file size.

cache4 folder will not be stored from the ophome file. Regarding the lexicon folder, when you delete it, Opera will reindex every one of the mails everytime it starts, and yes it consume time and effort.

OperaUSB is NOT great for USB-flash/thumb drives. The cache writes for the disk constantly I have personally exhausted USB-disks using this method.

Worked a treat in my USB drive. I even got my bookmarks imported and altered the toolbars to how I like them. So I closed it, removed the drive, reinserted the drive and cant open Opera Portable now. I tried to start the original download on my own hard drive too understanding that wont open. Deleted the copy in this little USB drive and redid it but no go. Works fine on my own husbands computer - I can reopen it and yes it saves my preferences. Both machines are XPHome, SP2. Any ideas why it wont open again in my pc?

Perhaps it was possible with older version of Opera Portable, given that they always started the profile from your unique temp folder. Now it isnt possible, since the profile begins - -for good reasons- coming from a fixed temp folder. Maybe the opportunity to override the folder location may be added on the profile choice dialog?

How does one delete the Opera Software? I downloaded but dont want to buy anymore but cant apparently download the setup because doing so says that it can be being used by another program which I have no idea what program is applying it. Great, I use it daily. However, one serious problem for idiots much like me is if I start Portable Opera while another version is running. I had succeeded in doing so a couple of times and it also resulted in an overwriting with the ophome file. Which of courses loses my mail, bookmarks etc things.
2 option to create a backup with the ophome file in same folder, preferably after opera has loaded that way the speed just isn't but otherwise before it really is loaded, if it is not possible

I have just tried a blank no frills, no additional languages, no speeddial, no local storage etc. portable installing Opera 12.13. The problem together with the crash upon update check doesnt appear to occure. The problem could possibly be one together with the speeddial, or one in the speeddial apps. Try to disable them 1 by 1.

Further as to the potbic recently said, their is often a bug in 12.15 that has been suppose for stopping a bug in 12.14 which allowed the default google search in Opera to get hijacked without worrying about users knowledge or consent by the rogue web base app. Well the solution actually went a tad too far as well as resets it back on the regional default on every restart even when a user changes it.
