I specifically purchased many because Im a filmmaker and was required to burn DVD copies of my project, that was shot inside a 16:9 widescreen format. Unfortunately, it cant supply for that.
First coming from all, there are lots of cheaper alternatives for software for the market for burning DVDs. I chose Toast 12 as the developers site said hello could burn Blu-Rays. What they dont let you know until after youve spent your 99 is it wont burn to Blu-Ray if you do not spend an extra 20 for any plug-in. So straight away, I felt form of ripped off.
Then I discovered that Toast converts my 16:9 aspect ratio to 4:3, then it cuts off the everywhere you look sides with the picture gets hotter burns to disc. There is an selection for manually setting it to 16:9, but selecting that option doesnt do one thing. It still carries on see it as being a 4:3 file and reduces the sides.
Apparently this is really a problem theyve had for a long time, because someone on his or her online knowledge base pasted an answer that involves downloading alternative party shareware to solve the video after Toast has rendered it incorrectly. Unfortunately, that solution was posted last 2008 and apparently worked for Toast 8. But Toast 12 creates disc image files that this vacation software cant open, so thats no longer an alternative.
Unfortunately, Roxio only offers you 10 days of free tech support with Toast, so there is no strategy to get help unless I reimburse them even more money and my guess happens because wouldnt be capable of help anyway, because this bug has been online for at least several years and they havent been able to mend it yet. If you visit Roxios online knowledge base, there is often a button which says Questions? Click to have a chat! It makes you delay several minutes before connecting you to your person who says he cant answer any technical questions.
So basically, this really is extremely flawed software thats useless for my purposes. In my opinion, they must be embarrassed that they can charge 100 bucks for software that work well this poorly and possesses such poor customer care. I have repeatedly experimented with burn discs but none can play in my Samsung blu-ray player. I have tried in PAL and NTSC, as both versions are not recognized by the Samsung or my Panasonic dvd player.
Their customer support is horrible too, and would not help. They wait you until marketing agreement expires.
If that suits you wasting your money with a product that doesn't work, it is for you.

Awesome app overall, makes my mac worth having.
Since 11.1 they have had a consistent bug that locks up my Mac and forces me to reboot. I love this app, renders my Mac worth having, as disc burning of the sorts has become awesome, basically flawless since Toast version 7 many moons ago. Only downside to every update since 11.0.6, is actually I save an audio disc image, then make an effort to mount it, it fails or possibly is inconsistent, I then must force quit Toast, but that isnt enough as ToastImageMounter viewed via Activity Monitor keeps duplicating itself, and at last the only method to quit all those multiple instances is always to reboot. Once they fix this bug Ill be happy again and rate 5 stars. Until then, Im keeping 5 star version 11.0.6. OSX 10.9.1

Toast 11 advertises who's includes Spin Doctor X and offers details about just what it can do. Unfortunately many of these do not work as well as the organization that created Spin Doctor X Sonic Solutions continues to be acquired by another organization who based for their website is not supporting the product. So you use a broken software program out from the gate without support because of it. If you've recently purchased Toast I would be contacting your plastic card company and filing a complaint. You may be able to acquire some compensation since neither Corel or Rovi seem everything interested. Flawless until version 11.1. The Conversion choices are especially useful.
Update 11.1 had installation issues was required to dump previous preferences, etc. so as to install the update. Even after having the installation to be effective, the app locked up at the end in the burn cycle, frozen solid. This kept happening repeatedly.
Normally a elegant app, I give this version one star due to your cons with this particular update. I have now reverted back in version 11.0.4. I hope Roxio fixes these bugs, because Ive used this app for quite some time and enjoy it much greater than Apples basic disc burn.

Absolutely just like my issue. Had to retro to 11.04 to halt this freezing. This has become going on for months. Anyone know why that is happening and why they havent fixed this chances are?

I love this app, has created my Mac worth having as disc burning of the sorts continues to be awesome, basically flawless. Only problem with this update, to date, is actually I save an audio disc image, then try and mount it, it fails, I then ought to force quit Toast, but that isnt enough as ToastImageMounter viewed via Activity Monitor keeps duplicating itself, twice every matter of moments, and in the end the only method to quit all of the multiple instances is usually to reboot. Once they fix this bug Ill be happy again. Until then, Im sticking to 11.0.4. OSX 10.8.1
