BTW, I ve just update the package on github, not even on CRAN, in order that all of this process makes use of window prompts e.g: full GUI, as opposed to command line yes/no. And the package now adds a menu for update R when while using the Rgui.

I didn t imagine asking RStudio, it s advisable. I thought it might actually be nice to obtain it eventually combined with R itself though I that is amazing if ever this were to happen, it could be done differently as opposed to way I ve implemented it within the package.

One problem you could run into on Windows is the fact C:Program FilesRR-2.15.3etc is really a protected location. Even when I would like to manually edit it I have to look at notepad application just as one administrator then open otherwise Windows 8 will not allow me to save it.

The two later stages do require admin privileges. Also, the copying of packages assumes you'd like to move them in the default library folder from the old R towards the one of the revolutionary R. You can also don't use anything but the install.R function and take care in the package folders on your own own.
I am very not used to R and installed v2.15.2 not too long ago. Tried to set up packages for it recentaly also it wouldn t run and required to update. Thank for putting this together. I have R version 1.14.1 release 2011.12.22, recently I installed packageCAMAN nevertheless it did not load around my system, can you think it can be because I have an adult R version? I wanted to upgrade the R version on the latest, but I am afraid my older self-written programs will never run successfully following upgrade. Pls advice me accordingly. thanks.

Well, I am not sure if installr will develop R version 1.14.1 or otherwise.
In your case I would suggest manually download and install the newer version of R, and any time you would watch you are missing a package you experienced to re-install it.

Thank you because of this Tal really useful! I defer upgrading R because with the hassle! Now I can do ity easily. I was using RStudio on Windows7 64bit, along with the process works fine. When the process mentioned to open a different gui I said No, to relinquish R I said No, and I quit RStudio manually.

Thanks to the package. It appears undertake a wierd interaction with bioconductor packages, which in turn causes the bioconductor package to have confused about the version. I used installr to upgrade from 3.0.2-3.10. After that, the Bioconductor install script biocLite continually failed with version complaints.
I installed a clean version of 3.1.0 and biocLite worked all right. I haven t pursued it further.

Two shortcomings not bugs I had, unless I developed a mistake, was how the wasn t copied in the previous version s etc folder, and R Studio was still being working with the last version of R, but I m guessing business posts which the aim wasn t extended towards R Studio yet.
