This seems to get working, but itd be nice if another people could test it out, Im also unclear if the patch mentioned we have found supported by xwis, nonetheless its the only thing that generally seems to work thus far.
Snagged this in the Tiberian Sun section and updated for Yuris havent tried ra2 yet, nevertheless it seems for being working:
1. Copy your directory Red Alert 2 Typically seen in C:Program Files x86 to somewhere outside Program Files

No, the - win part has become the important part. With this alone it may seem to work, yuris only agreed to be going very slow for me minus the graphics patch. Also, this setup usually make ra2 work with no problems I was seeing on yuris so its basically like playing ra2 normally, and you still cant alt-tab out of the action I guess.
I cant appear to connect to people while trying to experiment with online though, has anybody else tried this yet?

Really? It fixes no menu condition in ra2/yuris, and Im able to experiment with single player skirmish at least until now.
None of these worked either, Ive also tried setting my computer up for DMZ but that didnt work either.

I have tfd and dont mind much for playing the games anyways stopped playing for like four years before returning but itd be cool when the supported version labored on Windows 8. All in the menus appear to me and together with the graphics patch the action runs smoothly in skirmish, but I cant hook up to anyone online in this way.
Can you might try going to device manager and turning off every one of the unnecessary adapters, virtual adapters and tunnels?
Then check properties with your default connection and disable anything that you dont use, besides what provides your online connectivity?

You cant alt-tab out or click outside in the ra2 window, essential. Its in Windowed mode meaning its an independent window, though the settings changed in have the windowed mode suck hard but it really also speeds the experience up, at least to me. So if you want I would suggest exiting the action through the exit button inside the menu. Also you should customize the resolution so your windowed mode is larger making sure that youre unlikely to click outside in the main ra2 window. So I tried the whole evening now.
I tried without windowed mode.
At first it went perfect. It worked without problems but after starting a 2nd skirmish it freezed again.
Then I tried everything with all the window. If i modify the resolution to 1366x768 it can be too big and I cant make use of the Taskbar ingame anymore.
And if your Resolution is just too big small I have a similar problems as you. Clicking outside.
The thing that creates me wonder is I can actually play online as usual.
And why are me wonder even more is always that If I dont makes use of the windowed mode I can play online but I cant play skirmish or campaign.
Blame westwood, its their crappy coding amongst players engine. The bugs together with the game never make sense at all.
