In a practical way I see no or hardly any results that may t be made with just Lightroom.
One from the things I like about Siver Efex Pro is it has many very nice presets. It s great to become able to quickly check out different presets and after that when I pick one up that works well I can tweak the sliders to obtain exactly the effects I want.

I m struggling to do the selective colouring. For example, I have a BW shot RAW opened and converted in Elements, and I need to retain the colour of an piece of jewellery inside shot. So I start Efex within Elements.
When I go through the control point about the jewellery, I only get Br, Co and St not additional ones inside the illustration from the article.
The manual doesn t help I find it very hard to be aware of.

There s a little black arrow within the three sliders you re seeing. Click on that along with the other three sliders can look. The one towards the bottom Sc is the main one you need.

I ve become overwhelmed with software and software plugin choices. I own, Topaz Labs, Nix Collections, OnOne, one more or two small programs, various actions, additionally, to LR5 and PSCC. Whew!!! I ve seen what Silver Efex Pro can perform and that s why I bought the full Nix Collection. The LR presets usually do not compare to any from the aforementioned programs. I use LR at the start and at the finish of photo processing. PS is far over my head, even though using it for 5 years, but I put it to use to finish what Topaz, Nix or OnOne plugins start. And, usually find yourself doing some small adjustments in LR, after things are all said and done including dodging and burning and adding a vignette.

This is amazing software given its capabilities and potentials, well reviewed as part of your piece. But I have one big complain about SE-2 or possibly I am missing something.
1 Take a situation, as within your example, which the third portrait selective B W and color is one, you liked and saved and closed this system.
Next time, you desire to make some changes in 1 say only to add border within the portrait, as SE provides that option. But once you open SE the very next time, it is going to start from scratch using the default i.e not your your first portrait. Your all previous tasks are lost.
I would not find any replacement for start avoid default, instead with my previous saved work 1. And then, just add the border to selective B/W color portrait.

Youve made an appealing point. Unfortunately, I havent yet found a way to offer the selective color portion of the style when opening it to get a second amount of time in SEP and Im not sure there is one.
However, when you are working on a graphic that you think youll get back to, to provide a border, etc., save it as being a custom preset prior to exit SEP. Then, the very next time you bring that image into SEP, just click around the custom preset you made with that image to apply the many adjustments except the selective color.

You start to see the walk I was planning to do was around 10 miles and didn t involve any mountains or spectacular scenery. In fact it had been really a walk to maintain fitness levels. The area is very nice in the event you like the stark, bleak moorland in the North of England but currently it looks pretty horrible with all of the rain.

I was recently contacted by a person that had purchased my Nik Silver Efex book but was having difficulty. It s then the perfect time to emphasise this effect even further while using the Soft Contrast slider as well as a setting of - 40%. You can start to see the result below.
This has achieved a great balance involving the foreground along with the sky but overall the whole picture is too light. I makes use of the Dynamic Brightness slider at - 50% and also the Amplify Black slider at 20% to treat this. The result is shown below.
Next step would be to make the night sky more dramatic so I create a selection that has a group of control points. I then improve the Structure and Amplify Black sliders to 20%. The result is shown below.

My final part of Silver Efex should be to add in some grain. I gave up with all the grain sliders in the past but recently they have already been improved and therefore are now quite good. I employ a grain setting of 400 which is very fine. I accustomed to shoot using Kodak TMax so comparable to the fine grained films.
In the earlier version of the whole picture I used Nik Analogue Efex to provide a vignette and film boarder admittedly it had been a slide film boarder but I liked it. In this version I dodge and burn in Photoshop to produce the whole picture at the very start of the post. I also tweaked the contrast further using another filter called Contrast Master from PhotoWiz. I made these final changes differently because I took more time on the edit, deciding I wanted for making an A3 print on the finished image.

I captured this image of the frosty yesterday morning around the edge of your car park. It did raise some eyebrows from passersby. My initial intension ended up being to convert it to a non colored documents image using Nik Silver Efex Pro. I made a number of variations of the look using different conversions, some high key some low key and several high contrast but none ticked the therapy lamp for me.
Then I remembered a different Nik programme that I had downloaded whilst seeking to fix a problem with Lightroom 5.2 still not fixed and thought I would give it a try. The filter is known as Analogue Efex and lets you simulate a number of camera and film effects. Usually I am not stunned at such applications and to become honest, looking from the presets I wasn t hopeful. I then found the custom sections where you are able to create your own effects and the whole picture below was the results. I produced both the color version and after that converted this to the white and black version above with Silver Efex Pro.

I have elected prints from both and also the prints are perfect quality but I don t know which I prefer. I think I am edging towards colour version but I switch to grayscale. I was wondering what others thought my partner dismisses anything non colored documents immediately so when you have similar tendencies your immediately banned from commenting.
Does anyone get thoughts?
