I are actually running SonicWALL Global VPN v4.7.3.0403 on Windows 8 without difficulties for more than a year. Today I upgraded to Windows 8.1 RTM and remarked that it disabled my Global VPN connection. I tried to mend the situation by uninstalling and reinstalling Global VPN, but that suddenly caused my computer to get rid of all network connectivity whatsoever. I uninstalled Global VPN again and connectivity was restored. At this point it would appear that Global VPN v4.7.3.0403 is incompatible with Windows 8.1. Has anyone established a way to realize success?
I contacted SonicWALL chat support and they also provided me having a beta of any Windows 8.1-compatible Global VPN which reports itself as v4.8.6.0826. So far it looks working, although I did must enable DHCP-over-VPN as well as set the VPNs virtual adapter to DHCP Lease which assigns IP addresses to connected VPN clients before I was competent to remote desktop to your machines behind the firewall.
I also verified with SonicWALL tech support team that the client that comes built-in to Windows 8.1 uses SSL VPN as compared to Global VPN which uses IPsec.
although I did must enable DHCP-over-VPN and place the VPN s virtual adapter to DHCP Lease which assigns IP addresses to connected VPN clients before I was in a position to remote desktop to the machines behind the firewall. Thank you very much. This solved my issue. Now I can safely run 8.1. user200373 Nov 23 13 at 22:42
I wasnt competent to get Global VPN Client working, can be a SonicWall client that are part of Windows 8.1 and delay pills work for me. There are some directions here.
Are you having a Pre-Shared Key with the SonicWALL? When I attempt to set up the Windows 8.1 client it doesn t ever prompt me to the PSK and simply says target machine refused the text. Mike Sep 10 13 at 20:24
Did you locate any documentation for a way to configure the SonicWALL to compliment this method of connection? Nothing I try is apparently working. Mike Sep 11 13 at 14:58
I are already unable to successfully hook up to our VPN while using built in SonicWall Mobile Connect VPN. I m getting a blunder 2250 within the Event Viewer. This is occurring from Windows 8.1 Pro and Surface 2 RT. Suggestions? Richard West Oct 24 13 at 2:39

If anyone around is by using a Sonicwall VPN as well as the GVC for Windows 8.1 I was in a position to snag the beta. So here include the links. The previous 4.7 version is incompatible with Windows 8.1, the DNE portion can cause blue-screens. So far that one is working for me personally.

Just FYI these are generally now final, I re-downloaded from Sonicwalls site, however they appear are the same files.
And just FYI in spite of the new Surface Pro Oct 5th 2013 update that contains driver updates for WiFi, in the event the Sonicwall 4.8.6 client above is installed, from a resume from sleep Wifi connectivity is broken and listed at Limited. Rebooting won't fix it, it'll work once after which never again. You must then uninstall the Sonicwall VPN Client for doing this to work. I have filed a Support Request with Sonicwall.
I am also experiencing this identical problem. MS Surface ProWindows 8.1Sonicwall GVPN Client 4.8.6.0826. Works fine after initial install, but upon reboot WIFI connectionhas limited no Internet access. Ergo, GVPN client is useless without Internet access. Required to uninstall GVPN client so as to restore full WIFI connection. Running Windows 8Sonicwall GVPN Client 4.7.3 worked like no bodies business. Thank you for your posting. Please contact us if you get any more information.
Same problem here.Although I have notfound a means to use any Sonicwall GVC using IPSEC that can work, I was in a position to resolve the matter by configuring SSL VPN in my SonicWall. A firmware upgrade was required on my small Sonicwall to accomplish this. Now, I am competent to connect to my VPN with my Surface Pro with Windows 8.1 while using the SonicWall NetExtender application. Configuring SSL VPN can be quite a tricky, but there are several help pages available on the internet. Theoretically, Windows 8.1 should be in a position to connect having its integrated connectivity availabilities, but this appears only to function if your hosting your SSL VPN on port 443.The NetExtender app will let you connectvia whichever port youve chosen to host your SSL VPN.
I am also experiencing this similar problem. MS Surface ProWindows 8.1Sonicwall GVPN Client 4.8.6.0826. Works fine after initial install, but upon reboot WIFI connectionhas limited no Internet access. Ergo, GVPN client is useless without Internet access. Required to uninstall GVPN client as a way to restore full WIFI connection. Running Windows 8Sonicwall GVPN Client 4.7.3 worked like a dream. Thank you for your posting. Please contact us if you get any more information.
I possess a Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 and enjoy the same issue in the above list where after installing the SonicWALL GVC version 4.8.6 and restarting, I would then have the Limited Connectivity error for those Wifi connections. The only fix ended up being to uninstall GVC and restart to have Wifi connectivity back.
I just finished troubleshooting with SonicWALL Tech support and so they asked me to setup GVC version 4.7.3 I know, precisely the same version that some say caused a BSOD under Windows 8.0 and it also seemed to operate. After installing GVC 4.7.3, Ive tried multiple restarts with virtually no issues with my Wifi connection and also have successfully setup my VPN connection without errors.
If youve upgraded to Windows 8.1 and therefore are having trouble together with the SonicWALL Global VPN Client, try reverting back in GVC 4.7.3 to determine if that solves your condition.

So yet another update reading the above posts.
It generally seems to only be an issue together with the Marvel Wifi in Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2. I have my Dell Venue 8 Pro her and delay just fine with Windows 8.1 as well as the Wifi chipset within it. Also works fine in this little desktop under Windows 8.1
Sonicwall support also gave me a similar advice, uninstall 4.8 and go returning to 4.7.3. I havent tested this but I believe it to figure, whenever you install 4.8 it updates the DNE/IPSEC driver, and if you uninstall it, those files stay installed. Then once you install 4.7.3 it doesnt over-write them, which means you are getting a hacked installed basically, 4.8 DNE/IPSEC driver and 4.7.3 app/UI.
Im sure Sonicwall will issue another update soon.
On the SSL-VPN thing, I have SSL-VPN setup fine and works great utilizing the Android app on port 4433. I tried the key of moving SSL management from 443 to something more important, then changing SSL-VPN to 443. I had been not competent to connect, when I try IP or IP:port it states Not a sonicwall SSL VPN server or similar message. And I see NOTHING inside the active log arriving. Any other tips on that?
In God We Trust; All Others We Monitor
Think I have the SSL-VPN determined.
First issue, it defaults to port 443. Which is stupid since 443 is management for your Sonicwall, 4433 would be the default SSL-VPN port. Do this from power-shell to generate a new connection together with the custom port number: One line at the same time, be sure you change the VPN Name and ServerAddress for a settings on-line 4 as well as 4433 if you utilize something different online 1
xml MobileConnect Port 4433/Port /MobileConnect sourceXmlNew-Object xml Add-VpnConnection - Name VPN Name - ServerAddress 198.6.1.2 - SplitTunneling True - PluginApplicationID cw5n1h2txyewy - CustomConfiguration sourceXml
After so much, whether it still fails, your Sonicwall is defaulting to RC5 encryption for SSL-VPN. Log in to the Sonicwall, head to SSL-VPN Server-Settings, and check out Enable Server Cipher Preference make sure box and select AES256SHA1, then apply the setting.

This just in on the Director of Software Engineering at Sonicwall.
Any individuals guys witha Surface Pro, give these a go, see whether or not this fixes the difficulties and make me aware here.
I sold my Surface Pro and visited a Dell Venue 8 Pro, so I cant test.
I knows that Sonicwall Global VPN Client v4.8.7 genuinely does work about the Surface Pro, Windows 8.1, employing a pre-shared key. Thanks xendrome!!!!!
For individuals who need the download, use an account with sonicwall. Im from my service contract though the download was still being available.

Does anyone know where you can download the most recent edition in the 64-bit version of SonicWall SSL-VPN NetExtender for Windows 7?
This question generally seems to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this unique reason:
Requests for product, service, or learning material recommendations are off-topic simply because attract poor, opinionated and spam answers, along with the answers become obsolete quickly. Instead, describe the company problem you might be working on, the study you have done, along with the steps taken to date to solve it. EEAA, masegaloeh, womble, HBruijn, Jim B
As mentioned, has the thing you need. Hit the downloads link, then this free downloads tab. The dropdown should then offer an option for netextender.
You have to select your device inside the dropdown inside download center. Then you should get yourself a list of NetExtender versions. You will use a similar version for 64-bit version of Windows 7 as 32-bit version btw.
As of August 27, 2015 it cannot be downloaded from /On the mysonicwall site, the netextender is replaced with Global VPN Client which will not have the identical options and will not get connected to the VPN server I need it to.
I was in a position to succesfully get installed, but, it absolutely was very complicated.
The method that netextender ways to use installing is simply by hacking your pc through browser, I know this sounds bizarre but, I was capable to get it installed.
Chrome may be patched which means you hack won't work, so you have to use a browswer were security matters not. Obviously Internet Explorer will be the best selection for this.
From Internet Explorer head to the gateway address offered by your adminstrators, sign in using your vpn credentials, you will then be offered an selection for netextender.
My Internet Explorer was at a fully updated Windows 7 fresh install. This version of windows was ubable to fit directly, but, there seemed to be an option for all those downloads where I was competent to download an average installer and install the netextender just like it absolutely was not a peice of shit.
I hope that a person can re-write my installation instructions in the politially correct way. I realize that calling sonicwall a bit of shit isn't friendly, but, since Ive looking on and looking for instructions and all on the politically corrrect folks have already been unsucessful, you receive when I offer.
