Section 514 supports designers to some extent selection and conducts article on part lists for compatibility using the intended space environment and mission life, provides purchase of electronic parts, communicates with vendors to settle issues and find parts on schedule, conducts radiation tests and offer characterization and analysis services, performs part performance and environmental evaluations and test, conducts and coordinates reliability tests and failure analysis, implements JPLs Government-Industry Data Exchange GIDEP and NASA Alert programs, and offers inventory and records charge of flight electronic parts. Section 514 also operates and maintains the Radiation Effects Laboratory, the Reliability Failure Analysis Laboratory, as well as the Electronic Parts Flight Stores.
