I produce an iMac 10.1 using Mac OS X 10.6.4 10F569. It keeps Java updated automatically. I was able make use of the Internet Speed Test several months ago, in the last number of days everything that happens when I press Start is Connection refused arises. The Broadband Speed Test and Speed Test don t work either.

Tried for getting speed check a couple of times. Each time fails with message
Ran Java check. Results: You have correct Java version.

This is ok to manage our enter in internet.

I have added Internet Speedtest to my firewall. Port 8500, TCP. Then I clicked Change Scope, then clicked Custom List, then added 76.74.166.239. I no more get a Connect Time Out, But it would go to Working., also it seems to have stuck. I have left running for a few minutes with same results. Thanks, DJ.
Thanks for your upload it doesn't look like you've got anything running on TCP port 8500 and 8600 to 8609; however, I did realize that my instructions with the top on this page were incorrect.
I had a bad IP address on the internet for, the correct an example may be 76.74.166.239, so for anyone reading this, please make sure that you just allow 76.74.166.239 to deliver and receive data on port tcp port 8500 and 8600 to 8609

Oh am I not the unlucky one! I used this tester for a lot of months given it always gave results that have been compatible having a thing called BT speedtester that's the approved tester for ISP BT customers in the UK but takes an age to get an answer. Currently I have three laptops connected to your BT hub, one wired and a couple of wireless. Two these relatively new machines run fully updated XP the other fully updated Vistaugh. All have updated versions of Java as well as browsers, including IE8, Firefox, Safari. All three machines use Avira for security.
All three these machines offer the connect break non-result employing your speedtester, and also have done, as well as other machines I have set up on the past few months, in whatever browser configuration I use. Avira is NOT the issue, I purchase it continuously for a few years. My house was in a rural setting, some way in the nearest exchange, so I only receive a measured speed of approximately 2.5 M. My lines, filters, junction boxes have been recently looked at by BT engineers. I am now using Broadband Watchdog for testing. If it s any comfort Namesco doesn t work either, giving ridiculous speeds of 40M or maybe more!
It appears that very few consumers are receiving this message, but I d like to ensure it is so that no-one received this message.

Always had your speedtest working till I are already getting the connect timed out message for just a couple of days. Windows 7 64 bit running firefox 3.6.3.
