Neverwinter Nights 2 has received several patches released, the most up-to-date official version which often is Version 1.23. The latest patch boasts a range of fixes, and importantly, removes the disc check part of SecuROM, meaning the sport DVD doesn't have to remain inside drive to experience. The primary and recommended method to update on the latest official version on the game at at any time is to run its automatic updater. You can do this by clicking the Update link for the games launcher menu, or by running the file seen in your Program FilesAtari Neverwinter Nights 2 directory. Again it can be strongly recommended that you simply regularly check out and update towards the latest official version with the game. If youre experiencing difficulity running the motor car updater, check page 3 for details regarding how to manually download and patch for the latest version.
Neverwinter Nights 2 has a CD Key as well as uses the SecuROM copy protection system, which requires the CD/DVD be kept within the drive while playing the experience. For legal reasons I cant provide any information of a No-CD or No-DVD, or any other methods of bypassing copy protection. I can however point out that SecuROM could cause issues, particularly startup problems - see Page 3 for details. Hopefully Atari will listen for the various requests from legitimate purchasers with this game to at the least remove the CD/DVD check component on the copy protection inside a future patch, as it's annoying and simply punishes paying customers.
Important: As with the 1.23 Patch, users not need to maintain DVD inside the drive to experiment with - the disc check part of SecuROM may be removed from your game.
