1. Microsoft Office is usually a desktop application. As such, you may need 1 Microsoft Office license per desktop while using Microsoft Office software. Correct me if I am wrong, but I have already been advised on many occassions if I publish any MS application on the Citrix FarmTerminal Services I have to take care of licesning for all those users who've access to that farm in the Active Directory Domain.
Eg. I come with an AD domain with 3, 000 Users. Technically, these users can authenticate and gain use of the Citrix Farm. I happen to be advised, that I might need to license each MS product published with this farm for that total 3, 000 users regardless with the fact that I can restrict user having access to the published applications, eg. 50 users accessing MS Visio, etc.

About a month ago, I installed Windows 8 along with the final version of Office 2013 using a Dell XPS 13. A bit about me: Im a graduate student plus a long-time user of Microsoft Office. Ive used Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote nearly every day with the past five years, but OneNote essentially the most by far. Ive used every version of Office since 1997.
As other reviewers have stated, the greatest changes to Office 2013 from Office 2010 are SkyDrive integration, touch gestures, and also a flatter UI to check Windows 8. Since I dont use SkyDrive often, dont use a touchscreen, and am indifferent on the flatter look, Ill leave those aspects for some other reviews. If youre at all like me and arent particularly excited by SkyDrive which still isnt as versatile as Google Docs for real-time collaboration, then Office 2013 is actually the same as Office 2010 when it comes to how everything works - most in the time. This is not only a bad thing, at least inside my opinion, since I really liked Office 2010 as well as its improved Ribbon UI.
What I wanted to speak about here are the modifications that Microsoft has produced to Office 2013 from Office 2010 that Ive noticed, changes that could impact daily workflow for users upgrading from previous Office versions.
I spend no less than 4 hours a day on this program, so Ill get started with this. As far as I can tell, you can find no significant changes with regards to features. I happen to be using Office Professional 2007 in the office for years, and I bought Office 2010 for home use if it first arrived. I can tell you that Office 2010 is often a very worthwhile upgrade from 2007, and compatibility between the two products is decent. I recently purchased Office 2013 for work and I already regret it. If I might make the choice again, I would get Office 2010. Right now in February 13, Office 2010 will be the best, most robust version of Office m has ever produced. There is little major reason to have 2013 and I can visualize several, two just today, which are reasons NOT to. Access 2013 doesnt perform data collection via form from Outlook like 2010 does and they also replaced which feature with, yep nothing, just gone. The entire Collect Data group is merely gone. How do it will cost a higher price whenever they remove features? Today when I composed a contact for my boss in Outlook 2013 and spent a little while with spacing and formatting so it will be look exactly like I wanted it to take a look, then sent them back. When I opened it inside my sent items folder to consider a last look, I was pretty p%ed to determine a message near the top of my email saying Outlook 2013 removed unnecessary lines out of this message which left my email looking pretty crappy. What an utterly useless feature. That can be disabled in options but could mess up a visible text email for you when you forget to turn it - same costs Outlook 2010. If you happen to be using Office 2007 or perhaps an older version, then an upgrade to office 2010 would have been a worthwhile experience. I think I am carried out with m Office products adjusted my 2010 version all of which will have to complete something far different from the future. My advice - avoid Office 2013. Microsoft changed their license agreement for Office 2013 from non-transferable and linked with one PC to anyone can transfer to a brand new computer, only one time every three months. You can have just one license copy utilized period using one computer.
There a few good updates to Office 2013. The best might be easier dealing with pdf files within word. You use to own have a separate pdf program to do what we can now do in word. Microsoft would like to push their internet based Office 365 subscription- renting the program. Office 365 may or may stop a ton. It depends. Office 365 is cloud base. This means you have to own a good connection to the web. I really dont think the world wide web infrastructure is ready with the the cloud based push all big software companies want to try and do. If everyone visits cloud office, movies, backup/storage, and music things are likely to slow down. The primary issue is our web connection and options are limited with limited competition monopolies. The US lags far behind all kinds of other developed countries in how quickly our internet speeds are and competitive pricing. Until it is fixed businesses that want to complete cloud base software are going being hindered. That is though a full different discussion.
One thing about office 2013 is you will not have to provide an internet connection for having access to office as it is on your own desktop. Something to take into consideration.
