The Concise is extremely entries are basic but clear, right towards the point, the phonetic transliteration uses the International system, too as the etymology origin from the word along with a list of derivative words.
My main disappointment with the product relies around the fact that, although we expect a tight dictionary being, well, concise, we also expect something a little more elaborate and detailed. For example, the derivative words usually are not in separate entries, the entries tend not to have any illustration showing contextualized use in the words or derivatives unless the utilization is problematic per se, and there is just not phonetic transliteration or pronunciation in the derivatives. All on this are shortcomings for me.
With numerous online free dictionaries online, some on the Oxfords included, one expects those available for purchase to supersede the internet ones in connection with information and details they supply. Unfortunately, the Concise Oxford on CD-Rom falls a tad short. It will not be that is bad, it truly is that it could considerably better.
Still, the Concise is great for Secondary School students and for basic consultations and look-ups.
