Ambient Occlusion makes figures seem as if they are within the natural lighting environment on the real world. Ambient Occlusion can be obtained on every light to produce accurate soft shadow effects, this provides scenes a brand new degree of realism. The new Ambient Occlusion shader node makes figures and objects appear as if they are within a natural lighting environment. Ambient Occlusion darkens surfaces in a scene whose experience light is blocked by other objects. This effect uses raytracing to calculate their education to which other objects inside a scene occlude the ambient light of the surface at the given point. Surfaces with increased occlusion will probably be rendered as darker than surfaces with minimal occlusion. You can set Ambient Occlusion lighting for those objects, or select lighting focused on specific aspects of your scene.

OK, Im prejudiced. I love Poser and still have been using it since Version 3. I still think I might be fair. There are some things that I wish Poser 6 had and many things Ill never use. I think this version is 99% there.
Poser 6 just has 1 a higher level Undo. Most users desire more undo power. It does employ a Revert feature that lets you jump returning to the last saved version. Thats pretty handy.
The new OpenGL preview is fantastic. The improved display isnt practically speed. The quality from the preview is best as well. A feature cartoon artists will adore is Posers toon style preview. There are 5 toon preview styles. For some applications they may be of your quality which a full render is just not needed.
Some users have gotten trouble with their graphics cards. Curious Labs included legacy support, a Software preview called SreeD. If your card doesn't support OpenGL you may still use Poser 6. Usually updating the program driver for that graphics card solves the difficulties.
Several extra features have been combined with the render engine in Poser 6. The biggest is most likely IBL and AO Image Based Lighting and Ambient Occlusion These new light sources let you create very accurate down to earth lighting. Several down to earth Light Probes are included. Setting up IBL might be tricky so a Wizard/Macro They it is known as a Wacro is roofed to assist you to.
Another new render feature is toon outline. Poser 5 introduced toon style renders, however they were tricky to arrange and the ink wasn't quite right. Poser 6 includes a Toon Outline option from the renderer. One thing I would like to have witnessed was a approach to control the color with the ink officially used on the toon outline. Henry Ford said, You can have any color you desire as long as its black. Read more

Finally, I can intensify from Poser 4 ProPack devoid of the constant nervous about crashing. Poser 6, when compared with Poser 5, has run consistantly stable with no crash. I did should update my graphics card drivers, but thats usually expected with new software
Now that I can begin enjoying many from the options introduced in Poser 5, my artwork may start to be more vibrant. Granted Im behind the masses that updated to Poser 5 this agreement I became a contributing artist about the content cd, but I always had issues with program crashing.
Ive found Poser to become very an easy task to learn, along with a quick fix for that artist that really needs faster results then creating all things in 3d yourself. Of course you will still can adapt your original work to Poser, and Poser 6 causes it to be even easier with a lot more options to do this.
Poser 6 may not be for that beginner to 3d, but there is often a large poser community ready to assist you to along.
Poser is difficult. Extremely hard. The manual that comes while using software is poorly written and virtually useless. I recommend the VHS POSER 5 Demystified, that is relevant to Poser 6 too. This will help get you going.
But even on this, Poser, as with any 3D animation programs, will probably require a serious commitment from you finding out. Its VERY TIME CONSUMING. Theres just absolutely no way around it. Even after youve identified how to use the software program it took me a few months of trial and Im no expert, it might easily demand 8-10 hours to create a 5 second animation.
The issue that no person can show you how for making an animation with Poser. They can only explain to you how the various tools work which, as I stated before, the manual fails miserably at. Youre going to must decide what you desire to see for the screen, and figure out how to change the software for making that a reality. Example: you can find 3 different methods it is possible to use to animate, which supply you with wildly different results. While the manual lets you know what these are typically and identifies the controls per, it doesnt let you know which to make use of and under what circumstances to utilize them. Youre going to must figure out on your own personal. I literally thought the application was broken to the 1st few months, considering that the figures kept relocating unexpected ways. Actually, it was behaving just the way it had been supposed to. I understand since its an asset instead of a liability, because once you know what youre doing, Poser could add a volume of realism which is sorely lacking coming from a lot of other 3d animatio
So exactly what do I think of Poser 6? Its amazing. Simply amazing. I would have 5 stars, except for your crappy manual that is included with it. Read more
You could have noted references to Posers notorious instability. In earlier versions I hadnt really noticed this shortcoming, but version 6 will not be a happy experience. Prior to now I had been using a Mac G4 w/OS9 w/Poser a few.
I have already been a satisfied Poser user to get a number years and have absolutely always thought it was very useful. However, I have recently upgraded to a different Mac G5 with OS 10.4 together to buy a whole new copy of Poser- version 6. The results are actually very unsatisfictory. On this new system Poser continually crashes upon launch and tech support, up to now, offers no lasting solution. So far it's been worse than useless.
The very good news may be this: supplies a piece of freeware that functions similar to Posers double- if youve used one youll readily be capable to use the other! This alternative may also access your main Poser files and resources.
I await resolution of my Poser problems, but meanwhile Daz3ds software packages are up and running very nicely, ; and until now, winning over this long-time Poser user.
This in not much of a reflection around the Poser 6 program - Ive been using it for several years. I was sent an unsatisfactory program. I have spent a long time trying to acquire it to fit. Read more

5.0 outside of 5 stars Poser 6, Ready for Prime Time.

Another new render feature is toon outline. Poser 5 introduced toon style renders, but they also were tricky to put together and the ink had not been quite right. Poser 6 carries a Toon Outline option inside renderer. One thing I would like to have witnessed was a strategy to control the color with the ink utilized on the toon outline. Henry Ford said, You can have any color you would like as long as its black. Those are the color choices for that toon outline. Black. You can control line weight and magnificence. Setting up the toon outline might be tedious as each material will need to possess a toon ID used on get the lines right.
Posers procedural materials might be hard for beginners to create. Poser 6 carries a simplified version in the Material room that helps it be easy for users upgrading from Poser 4 the get into the modern version. Once you know ways to use the material room you are able to switch towards the advanced view and dive in to the powers hidden inside the shader nodes.
Poser 6 includes a whole new family of Characters. James, Jessi along with the kids Ben and Kate. The new figures utilize a type of character rigging Joints that had been used in Poser 4. Some people think its a pace backward. There are some reasons to like this rigging technique. The newer Evolution rigging frequently didnt deal with Posers drag to pose system. With the traditional style rigging works more reliably with drag to pose. Just click a branch and drag it to where you would like it. Poser 6 work fine together with the evolution rigging if you are using direct joint manipulation. The figures included within the original distribution CD have problems. Curious Labs has released a content update to correct these problems. Be sure to download the update.
Animation in Poser is simple. Poser automatically calculates In between frames. You pose the real key frames and Poser figures out where to start in between. There are several strategies to edit animations. Key frame manipulation and graph tools provide you with complete treatments for your animation. A Walk Designer will provide walking animations with just a number of clicks. Some on the animation tools can take some practice to know. There are 4 ways Poser can calculate the In betweens. Linear, Spline, Constant and Spline Break. Learning when and how make use of each is going to take some practice.
When Poser 5 was launched it absolutely was nearly a tragedy. The program was very unstable. Lots of users swore off Poser then. Poser 6 differs. Curious Labs learned from your mistakes made then and possess been careful not to produce the same mistakes again. It was thoroughly beta tested previous to release even though some bugs did survive 4 months of testing this software is very stable.
I must come clean. I was one with the beta testers. I got to look at as the engineers shaped the revolutionary program. I must admit I was scared up to about half way through beta. Then all started to bond. I could see it turned out going for being great. I wanted this release to file for perfect. But, that never usually happens. Sure enough bugs managed to get through, fortunately none of seem being deal busters. Curious Labs will and also by the time you see this may curently have release patches for that problems.
Poser 6 is excellent program. Beginners and experts may find it simple to use and powerful. It comes with a considerable library of pre made content, however it is power isnt really unlocked soon you start adding content. There are many artists that induce add on items for Poser. Many of them offer free goodies, Im one of these.

So exactly what do I think of Poser 6? Its amazing. Simply amazing. I would provide 5 stars, except to the crappy manual that accompanies it. Curious Labs should design a manual like The Art of Animation Master, which has been brilliantly tailored for that beginner.
The downside: content. If you intend on setting up a contemporary film, this just isn't a problem. But if you're planning on creating any kind of period film, or perhaps a Sci-Fi or Fantasy film, expect to shell out at the least 200.00 for additional content. Youre first stop ought to be to DAZ. Get version 3 of both Michael and Victoria, because 99% on the clothing and morphs on Content Paradise is targeted at fit both of these models. Youre likely to find which has no content meant for the models that come together with the Poser software James, Jessi, Don, Judy. Its a and if you would like to use Poser, theres really nothing it is possible to do about this, unless youre a competent enough modeller to create your own clothes. Before you go spending all of that money though, take enough time out to learn the software program. See if youre willing to create the commitment or you cannot. I would recommend a brief 3-5 minute film utilizing the content that comes using the software. Allow yourself few months to a year to finish it. Im not kidding.
Lip Synching: Youre also about to need Mimic from Daz, if you plan on your film to contain any dialogue. Thats likely to cost you at the very least another 200.00, unless you are able to find a free version on the software. Check out playboy 3d world. Every month it features free software for everyone sorts of 3d platforms. I was fortunate enough to obtain a free version of Mimic with the price on the magazine. You can probably get the back issue using their website.
Other than that, study the masters Harrihausen, etc. Computer animation is absolutely not that totally different from Claymation. Its just done inside a virtual environment, and also you dont need to animate each frame. Also, its not hard to check your progress and to create changes, when you know what youre doing.
If you browse the review portion of Poser 5, many from the reviews are extremely negative. While some on the complaints are justified, for me a lot in the frustration comes from your fact that the individuals reviewing it havent spent an adequate amount of time to understand what theyre doing. They think the program is broken because it's just not giving them the final results they expect, or their computer lacks sufficient RAM as well as a fast enough processor to manage it. The requirements around the side on the box may be the MINIMUM forced to run the software program. If you wish it to operate smoothly, I would recommend no less than a gigabyte of RAM. Youll save yourselff a wide range of headaches.
I am rather not used to the product of Poser using a demo of Poser 4 Pro Pack. I was unaware with the powers that Poser possessed until I purchased Poser 6.
This program is incredible, basically Poser 6 allows the creation and manipulation of human figures and animal models. You can change every property of theses figures from resizing to deforming. Poser 6 means that you can build scenes using various props like chairs etc plus you may build your individual by combining various shapes which you may then texture.
There is face modeling tool which lets you model a side image and front image of the person and set them on with a 3D model head.
Using the animation tools you are able to create animation to get your creations alive, add sounds to give your animation greater realism.
This program is full pack with wonderful benefits, and believe it or otherwise not getting to know how to utilize this program is painless and everyone can create realistic ends in no time in any respect.

Poser is actually great program, reality it uses a while to find out, its very good. I know which a lot with the computer unsaavy should have trouble. The UI inside the Mac doesnt take full advantage of what Mac OSX offers. It does over humans, it lets you do animals and objects too. For those prepared to Download for just a price, beds, scenery, buildings, etc.
There would be a person that complained it doesnt work with Mac OSX, I had no challenge with it beyond what I stated previously.
The reason Im passing on 4 stars is considering that the figures in Poser6 suck. Go to DAZ and download those. I particularly such as Millenium Horse, Victoria, Michael, and Aiko for anyone anime fans. Also because on the bug, but not taking advantage with the Mac OSX UI. I would have liked takes place parts to get in separate windows, much like the Photoshop User Interface. So I could individually dock the windows, and kill them. The book isnt a tutorial manual in any respect, merely a basics manual. But Adobe Photoshop is similar to that too, so Im not griping. To augment which are online, DAZ has some great turotials, also doing google search. Also buying that book that previous reviewer mentioned below me may well help, but I havent bought yet The renders might be retouched in look for the people tutorials if you happen to get Photoshop.. Though you will discover others.
I was lucky, I downloaded Aiko, Michael and Victoria free of charge off from the Daz website. James is pathetic, as i have said currently at this moment they still are free.
Download them so if you are intending or thinking about buying this software. If they're no longer free, download the very first two when you buy this system, it truly is worth it.
As for how long it takes to understand, to create your own figures it is going to take lots, and plenty of learning, patience and work, nonetheless it took just as desire me to know Photoshop, Mojoworld, along with other high end graphics programs. Im still learning Photoshop, though its been about a few years on and off. Dont expect a miracle with powerful and sophisticated programs along these lines. Depending on your learning curve, you might get upset and throw against eachother the window, or perhaps you may try over and over again before you get it right. If you would like to utilize this for reference work simply because you suck at imagining poses-like me, this system might be more work than you are able to go for. Just use magazines the ones wooden mannequins-much cheaper.
I bought the program for Mojoworld, mainly. And because I got some requests for anime characters in 3D. I secondarily got it for posing figures into various positions for reference, nonetheless it takes a much bigger work than I thought.
Overall, Poser 6 is often a great program for the people of us who will be bad at drawing humans, need to interface it with programs like Bryce, Mojoworld, and then for doing Photoshop humans. It will need about just as long to find out as Photoshop, Mojoworld, as well as other high end graphical programs, but I think its worth every penny. Especially whenever you buy the educational pack. Its a lot easier to utilize than making a human determine Maya. So dont expect overnight success, and also have lots of patience and computer knowledge before buying the program.
I started with POSER 5 and instantly loved it so I got version 6. My main interest was toon 3d characters to enhance funny video shorts I create to set as intro and skits in wedding along with videos.
I have already been hobbying with 3d software to get a while and many pacages employ a bit of an learning curve. If you would like human-like characters you should make them yourself that's called modeling. Then you have to give the model a bone structure and that is called rigging. Then you should add textures or complexion to the model. Then you have to add lights and cameras and also a lot like sculpting with clay except its done out of your computer screen. All this necessitates that you discover the tools within the software that lets you do these items which all adds up to some big learning curve.
Poser lets you skip enough time consuming modeling, rigging, and texturing part by offering ready made models while using software or it is possible to buy them from various places. All you should do is animate them.
Animating the model realistically is really a challenge. This would be the part the software isn't going to do to suit your needs. It requires some foundation Knowledge from the principles of animation. As you move the model while using rigged controls the application tries to interpret what you might be doing. It doesn't always make model move how we intend. This is whenever you must utilize tools within the software for making adjustments to ensure the models behave the way you need. That would be the hard part that may practice and learning what tool does what.
The manual that accompany Poser explains the tools but doesnt really help understand how or when to utilize them. It helps to discover videos for instance one by Jeff Lew which will not use Poser but explains the essential tools employed in most 3d software to animate characters.
Poser 6 can also use some improvents from the speed of their render engine as well as an easier way to produce custom characters.Check the demo of SPORE in the creator of THE SIMS
Over all I love it and possess no crash problems in this little six years old computer running Windows XP with 798mb RAM.
Whats really sweet is transporting Poser 6 characters into Vue 5 Infinite software environments. But thats another review.
This release proved to get good on more extra features but the memory issues will be the stinker. Renders stop with to many people out of memory issues on the simplest settings despite how much RAM you feed it. As of this moment the modern service pack release SR2 have not solved the memory issue.
Before you discard your Poser 5 This new version might have lots of latest features but it stalls a lot more than it runs. I used to accomplish animations with my old Poser 5. I WAS working using a short animated film. This program runs SO SLOWLY that I can barely render an intricate still a smaller amount do animation. It doesnt even load new figures without having a wait which is two or three times what Poser 5 used for your same model. It may run fine on the MAC but NOT with a PC. I have kept up with updates and none has fixed the issue. Right now I am scripting this review as I WAIT for POSER 6 to switch on the Figure Library towards the Props Library. It has stalled again and wont permit me to open a folder. Incidently I employ a pentium 4 with 512MB so this just isn't a slow system. They use a lot of work left to perform on the program and I am seriously considering uninstalling it.
Please be sure that youve entered a current question. You can edit your question or post anyway.
