Ive used Partition Magic since version 3.0. Partition Magic 7.0 has become WinXP compatable and supports hard drives around 80 GB. I needed to turn my W98SE desktop in a dual boot machine with WinXP on another new partition. Partition Magic was capable to do this to me with ease. It first enabled me to resize my existing W98 C drive, and then build a new partition for XP. I also use BootMagic, the boot controller, so that me to pick which system I boot into.

I bought Partition Magic 7.0 to merge and reapportion some ill-thought out, too small partitions in this little old 8.4gig drive. Ill never need more than 900 ! I liked that I could keep with FAT for the present time and keep compatibility with a few older programs Im keeping. I can always upgrade to FAT32 later if I want. This will also i want to setup multiple boot options easily.
The interface is intuitive, Drivemapper which searches your harddrive to change obsolete drive references is excellent, and I had no problems inside limited usage I have place it through. The manual is fairly dry and also a tough read, so I basically winged it, just double-checking with all the manual as I went.
Its somewhat pricy with the limited use Im likely to put it through, but I dont mind investing in a reliable utility that does what it advertises.

I have owned multiple copies and versions of PowerQuest products for several years, including DriveCopy, DataKeeper orphaned under WinXP, DriveImage, specifically, PartitionMagic. With the existing price of computer drives so low, my hard disk partitioning days are gone for good! For the price I covered these products I could have obtained a second disk drive and Norton Ghost or some other backup program which hasnt been ruined by corporate bean counters. These WERE great products, but Im through with with these.

The repeatedly I tried on the extender, Partition Magic worked fine. Then recently it died inside the middle - - leaving a 30 gig partition invisible.
I called tech support, only to find that I couldnt speak to some tech person unless I bought a brand new copy. You may think youre choosing a licensed copy of Partition Magic, but according on the support person I spoke to, you're going to get no support a few months after the next version happens.
Could tech support have recovered the partition that Partition Magic trashed? I had not a chance to find out without buying a fresh copy of this system. And that I wasnt able to do.

Its good, but why is even here when Partition Magic 8.0 is definitely available? When I used PM7, it had some minor compatibility difficulties with Windows XP. Partition Magic 8.0 perceived to have corrected these errors, so its a moot

The first-time I ran PowerQuests partition magic,
it generated an illegal partition. Worse, it could possibly not
few months before they claimed to employ a fix. For me to
get this fix, however, I would should BUY a brand new
version of partition magic. Forget that this version I
bought never worked. Forget the warranty; it expired
while tech support was researching/ignoring the condition!
I reported this chicanery for the BBB. PowerQuests legal
complaint, so the challenge must have been resolved. Their
story changed, however, after I provided a duplicate of all
support staff who admitted that it was their software bug.
Unfortunately, PowerQuest eventually declined BBBs offer
of independent arbitration.
PowerQuest product. Bad software. Bad company.

at installation time, or try Partition Commander.
