Seriously, this really is one on the worst application ever produced. It crashes on Leopard. If you ever have to update or reinstall, you've to email them for a url to download the update by FTP. Then email them again to acquire a software key. A software key? This is in addition for the registration code you also have to enter. It could well be less frustrating to transcribe everything yourself. Purchased. Installed. Registered. Emailed. Entered key. Deleted application from my drive.

I bought this as I thought it had been high time for the upgrade from my old OCR software and boy was that the mistake! Within 48 hrs I had switched back on the old software.
Not only was the buzz far from acceptable, it lacks even basic features that I consider essential for instance the capacity to manually define row and column positions when reading table data a primary use personally.
Now I can see why it shouldn't actually present you with a downloadable demo, merely a flash video. I cant that is amazing anyone would actually pay with this piece of junk should they had completed it first.
I bought Readiris Pro 11 beacause the website was stating how powerful it turned out even in recognising Asian japanese types.
They do not have a dedicated version for Asian types for Mac users concerning Windows, nonetheless it was said an add-on was available. So, I bought it and asked them for such add-on, they sent me a connection to download an entire Asian Mac version.
It installed easily but is useless, because Readiris shuts each time I load a graphic with japanese types, and they also stopped offering any help or clues. Maybe its not suitable for Leopard, but no warning is presented regarding this issue from the program or their wesite.
I still would choose to have a answer to recognise Japanese letters on offer from Readiris for Mac Leopard me their Windows Asian version could well be fine!
The Amazon description claimed who's would work in this little iMac. It would not. I had to deliver it back.

One odd but telling thing about ReadIris 11 could be that the box and manual claim that it might perform certain tasks perfectly. If a software company is so naive as not to ever know that, from the US market, claiming something performs perfectly can bring about an expensive fraud suit, it should pair of an alarm within the consumers head.
A greater Mac OCR program, which, sadly, isn't sold like a standalone, will be the OS X version of FineReader that has been found within the utility disks that was included with Epson all-in-one printers each year or two ago. In contrast to ReadIris, the offer does perform almost perfectly, however, you cant buy it within a box or as being a download, unfortunately.

I bought Readiris 11.6 and installed it to make use of it on my Mac with Leopard. I have an Epson Perfection scanner, which works well with OmniPro along with other programs on that same mac.
Well, Readiris doesnt recognize any scanner by any means. Their Support people take control a week to react and are rude and unhelpful. Their documentation is terrible the English is difficult to understand plus any case the documentation for version 11 was prepared for version 9 and in addition they have not provided updates.
I am getting my money-back from American Express who had been very sympathetic in my opinion for having bought a program that doesnt work as well as for having wasted my own time with the developers worthless support staff.
OCR, with this particular program, simply will not work with your hardware. The program crashes. We have the modern version which simply came from the mail. What a waste of cash.
Hardware tested on this software: Powerbook 15 1.5 GHz G4, OS X 10.4.8, 2 GB of RAM.
I have a fresh Mac Pro with 4 Meg RAM and am employing an HP LaserJet scanner to seek to get a document into OCR using ReadIRIS Pro 11. I can perform 1 page just great, but when I ask it to try and do 2 or more pages, it crashes whenever, losing my work. I called their TechSupport and so they said since Im using Leopard that I should get the most recent TWAIN driver from HP, which I think I already had, but I re-downloaded the driving force and re-installed anyway. Still doesnt work. Very frustrating to get rid of many hours of energy. Dont bother buying this terrible software.
I have owned Readiris Pro 11 for quite a while now, but on the PC. I recently just switched to MAC. So needless to say I had to obtain the corresponding Readiris Pro 11. I was weary because from the reviews that I continue reading here, but as it turned out it worked just fine in my MAC. There were a little more kinks that I were required to work out, which I didnt have to worry about on my own PC, but once I got through those, any devices worked great. It read my documents with a great deal of accuracy and speed that is all that I really requested. The software has the job done.
