Ok, No huge problem right? WRONG! Rosetta Stone charges 25 every month to use it despite the fact that I paid full price to the 5 CD program. I purchased the whole English course for my partner this Christmas. Wow I was expecting much more. This might be worth 100 bucks for a person that understands nothing in regards to language. I studied multiple languages and Rosetta stone is a best used in memorization of vocab, from common to somewhat obsucre, and reinforcing simple grammar. It will never explain grammar.
You never do greater than repeat the computer says and go with a b c or d. I have had native speakers utilize the speech recognition software and yes it still messes up for the children. Furthermore, after a couple of days it'll bore one to death. It is incredibly redundant.
Also, its super formal and super uptight language on the point where it's robotic grammar. Its boring rather than spoken. I would like to see someone that learned a language through rosetta stone as his or her main method to obtain information. I doubt a real person exists, because I do not discover how you can become remotely fluent using a real system. It was recommended when the program first arrived on the scene, but Rosetta Stone never adapted, and from now on people still pay big money for it and think it will help them and is also worth the price, any time a little bid of dedication and searching online, even listening to a web based radio can be much better. There are so many free options around that are greater than Rosetta Stone.
Please don't purchase this device. It is bad enough that this federal government pays for this so their employees can become familiar with a second language.
And, if you think it's really worth a whole lot, then youd think they will make more associated with an effort to tailor this program to the specific language, which barely do. Every Rosetta Stone language program uses precisely the same images and same sentences. The only piece they change could be the recorded system. They create one program, record a bunch of voices, and then sell on each language for HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS-it is usually a scam.
