I love the program. I used to use disabled children which cd became a very effective teaching tool the kids enjoyed. The concepts are presented in a entertaining manner so which the children learn while playing. The typewriter game shows the letter in both alphabetical format or true typewriter format, that produces the program also helpful for older children. You can pick the degree of difficulty which makes it appropriate for a variety of ages and IQ levels. I endorse it to folks looking for just a fun method for their children to find out.

I like everything concerning this product though the way it seems on screen. This is probably a compatibility issue I have Window XP: I cant increase it. I think if this software would resize to full screen size, my daughter will be more interested in it. For now, I like it significantly better then she does, hopefully she could warm up going without running shoes. The educational value is excellent and activities are presented in the interesting, entertaining way. I think its a fantastic option to other educational programs we now have like Clifford, Pencil-Pal Kindergarden, Caillou and others

My 4-year-old really likes many, in addition to Millie and Baileys Preschool. The games are entertaining and challenging and my daughter has learned from playing it. She recognizes numbers well, has improved her counting skills, which enable it to even count by 5s 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. from playing these games. The games are entertaining enough for being engaging and educational enough to feel you arent leaving your son or daughter to play mindless video gaming.

I was disappointed to seek out that many does NOT work on macs. We have an iMac. I popped inside CD, when I click Baileys Book House to load, it says You cant open the application form Baileys Book House as the Classic environment has stopped being supported. I feel jipped. The product says Windows and Macintosh- I guess not the methods in this decade.

This was the precise software I had been trying to find that I employed in teaching in the past. Now I gave it to my college old grand daughter and taught her using it. Her favorite part was the books she could write by deciding about the main character, the venue, etc. after which she could print that book and color it!! She loved the letter machine too. She will be growing in to the rest on the programs.

PHP, MySQL PHP, MySQL In the post Google vs. Samsung I compared the benefits of Google and Samsung Electronics mobile aka Telecoms division. It showed how Samsung continues to grow its mobile business so much that, if sustained, could conceivably influence just how Android is controlled.
However, we must not analyze Samsung s mobile group in isolation in the entire company. Samsung will depend on internal transfer of technology and capacities of production which might be quite unique for device vendors today. In other words, Samsung is usually a relatively integrated enterprise. Understanding the whole is critical before learning the part.
The following graph shows the sales and operating profit for Samsung Electronics being a composite of the divisions since early 2008.
As you are likely to expect, the mobile group Telecom may be the source of both upper and lower line growth. The group has been leading with regards to margins and increasing those margins steadily.
The margins averaged 11% during 2007 and 17% throughout the trailing four quarters. This 54% improvement in margin is matched by way of a 55% surge in average rate from 151 in 2007 to 234 within the latest quarter.
One could argue however a 17% operating margin from the group that is certainly now leading in volume and price remains to be a bit weak. At its peak Nokia enjoyed a 25% operating margin, RIM 30% and HTC 27%. Apple s iPhone operating margin approximately 45%.
I think a large part from the margin story can be a relatively advanced of investing in SG A Sales, General and Administrative which include advertising, sales promotion and commissions. In the case of Samsung Electronics, as sales continues to grow these expenses have become in proportion. As a percent of sales SG A have held relatively steady around 17%.
Note that as Apple s sales have cultivated its SG A is continuing to grow less rapidly causing a smaller percent as time passes. We might see Apple s SG A drop to 5% in the present quarter, an all-time low.
So one on the more remarkable elements of Samsung s success is their willingness to enhance promotional spending. Considering that their other divisions don t require as often marketing expense semiconductors, LCD certainly, and TVs and Appliances to some lesser degree due with a smaller sales growth we could imagine how the vast majority of the promotional spending has become in support of these mobile brands, Galaxy especially.
In fact, we are able to obtain advertising spend data from annual reports.
The chart above shows comparable ad spending from the cohort of technology companies also as Coca Cola and Samsung Electronics.
It could be surprising to remember that Samsung spends somewhat more than Apple and Microsoft. But it also spends greater than Coca Cola, a business whose primary expense of sales is advertising.
However, advertising just isn't the only sort of promotional spending. Samsung also pays commissions and purchasers promotion. The following chart shows the need for these sales promotions in accordance with the ad spending budgets above.
We don t have data within the current year since which is released after year s end, but it really s interesting to see that promotions cost over ads, which can be substantial relative with companies.
The company also reports Marketing Expenses every quarter1. These figures appear for being the sum of Ad spending, Sales Promotions, Public Relations plus a portion of other expenses like a part of SG A.
When considering all marketing expenses, Samsung Electronics sales efforts start to look quite astonishing.
The data used inside the latter three charts are available being a Google spreadsheet here.
And Apples success is because of the marketing.!
Yeah initially Horace mentioned those numbers I laughed.
Yes. In the real sense on the word marketing comprehending the job and designing products about the job and conveying the worth. Agree?
You just described design, not marketing. Apple s marketing tells the story in their design work.
The original poster is pretty correct which the typical criticism of Apple from Microsoft and Samsung fans is horribly ironic after you look at what Samsung spends for making 1 sale.
Marketing at Apple means something more important. Schiller, head of selling, is integral to product.
id1514985128 Greg Sparkman
That s right. True Marketing is strategic research and planningwhat to generate, who to trade it too. Advertising may be the tactical communications to push the execution from the Marketing plan. Lot s of men and women confuse the two considering that the groups band together, nevertheless the jobs and talent needed are usually different. But i view the comment by SA ; we ve heard that for a long time.
Samsung has really a variety of electronics to promote, therefore it only is sensible that they can have more advertising.
So you didn t see the article that you are commenting on?
Apple spends over 10 billions on tooling. Thats might be more the one example is then Intel.
I understood the above mentioned comment to imply their design is part of these marketing. For instance, white earphones indicate an apple product, the sent from my iphone message for the end of every post does exactly the same, examples of selling designed right in the product. Arguably another thing Apple does is best marketing, small but impactful ads which are better received for that most part than a great many other ads on the market, simple but elegant packaging, etc. In this sense they might be getting better value for advertising dollar.
Unfortunately our business vocabulary is woefully limited. Product marketing is really a design question but marketing generally has come to mean promotion.
I think we ought to object to that. Marketing used to get about bringing the correct product to offer.
I think SA s line and Greg s follow up could be the one people use to spell it out or attribute Apple s success to. Most of my acquaintances would describe Apple s success directly to them being effective in Marketing plus a woefully simplistic and frequently derogatory way.
Oh they don t make good products, they re just efficient at marketing stuff
That s simply because they don t know anything.
There can be a good term to capture design and promotion, and differentiate on the current bastardized use of advertising product management.
Both terms, marketing and design, create confusion. In publishing, marketing may be the job of bringing the customer to the publication; editorial development brings it to the consumer. I realize many organizations today place R D in marketing. Bad idea, I think.
Then too, design like a term produces a huge nearly everywhere brain issue: Design as engineering is science, to say; design as user-interface is art. Design as visual kind of information, which Horace does well, same. Those engaged within the material and efficient causes, using Aristotle s categories, are engineers and scientists; those engaged inside final and formal causes, are designers and artists.
Who needs marketing if you have a great number of tech bloggers working free for him or her deriding rival products/companies, their strategies and defending/praising everything Apple does, dumb you aren't. Marco Arment, Siegler, Gruber and a lot of others who turn up every now then with their extraordinary thoughts they do not exist or don't attract much attention in rival planets.
Right, nobody out there within the blog world writes negative stuff about Apple.
I m just about sure what ragsmobile was saying. What seems to become missing through the Windows world and Android worlds is those who re in favor of the respective platform like Gruber but open-minded enough to criticize it like Gruber and become genuinely appreciative from the advantages and innovations of rivals like Gruber for an extent. I d submit Paul Thurrott since the closest example. He sometimes seems infuriatingly wrong or obtuse, but I m sure anti-Apple folks feel the identical way about Gruber.
It s frequently struck me that Nikon can be a lot like Apple within this respect. Nikon s most vocal online bloggers Thom Hogan and Ken Rockwell are incredibly critical of Nikon while generally admiring it there s no similar voices within the Canon side and yes it s nothing like Canon s cameras and lenses are flawless. It came as a serious surprise in my opinion that Gruber is really a bit of your Canon fanboy.
Now, there s a pro-Android crowd along with an anti-Apple crowd, also it s essential to differentiate the 2 main. I think there are many pro-Android people who re quite open-minded about Apple but don t need a locked down platform with exactly one new form-factor out there per year need a bigger screen? nope. desire a better camera? nope. want an SD card reader? nope. Then there are folks who, i really enjoy seeing, simply hate Apple some are ex-Amiga-fanatics, some are Microsoft fanatics, some probably had their parking spot at Whole Foods stolen by Steve Jobs.
There are writers who criticize Canon; you may haven t looked far enough. See Bryan Carnathan at by way of example. In line with your analogy, Canon does outsell Nikon in the majority of markets. Nikon is usually noted for being a little more expensive for your same functionality.
I can t be bothered to prove it, nevertheless the reverse is usually true.
100% viewfinders more prevalent, earlier, cheaper, wireless flash easier and cheaper, more expensive focus systems in cheaper cameras compare D200 to 40D, twin card slots earlier and cheaper, more frames of bracketing cheaper, several customizable buttons earlier and cheaper canon users were required to wait for that 7D to view the benefits in this sort of feature
Yes, Canon were similar to Microsoft peddling wares which were perceived as superior, in many respects were worse compared to the competition, it really is changed dramatically with quite well specified cameras such as 7D, 5D MkIII etc, nevertheless the original 5D and 5D MkII were woefully scale back cameras as compared to much cheaper models even years earlier business manufacturers sensor performance aside
The first Pro Sony Alpha, Nikon D200, Konica Minolta5d in their day were all greater specified, more versatile and simpler to use than their Canon equivalent in nearly all way
The benefits associated with Canon s sensor were definitely for some users users, but caused by some sort of halo effect other photographers would ignore better AF systems, better viewfinders, better tougher bodies, superior bracketing range, and ease of use for that lure in the big sensor
The interesting thing is, like Apple, sales guys would try and push other brands due in an almost complete absence of Spivs from Canon.
If you re dealing with mass marketing, though, I don t think anyone cares. The tech enthusiast marketplace is supported by tech enthusiast publications, but you will find relatively not many of us compared for the volumes necessary to provide iPhone or Samsung Galaxy level sales.
The situation is this fact: Apple s brand is sufficiently strong it's spread by word of mouth marketing. Advertising is built to reinforce this, as well as introduce services to customers.
Samsung s situation is incredibly different. Google fanatics buy phones from Google, and also the tiny sales of these phones show how successful their marketing is. So they have an issue: How can you can choose from their phones?
There can be another, vastly larger, marketplace of men and women, people that go to some Verizon store and inquire, Which phone is a great one? The nice salespeople working with the store will push Samsung, because those commissions and marketing bonuses described above are now being paid for sending customers there. In practice, Apple customers go straight to your iPhones, while salesmen steer customers to Samsung and other commission-paying companies.
That s why Samsung sales are extremely good, and why marketing expenses are very high. It s a totally valid business design, though the more you're aware of it, the less likely you might be to rely on salesperson or invest in a Samsung phone.
Curiously enough, my Verizon salesperson, who looks like a really nice guy, strongly recommended HTC over Samsung, saying aforementioned phones have signal quality issues. Is this true, or perhaps is HTC paying him better? And is the fact why HTC is but bankrupt?
I such as Apple much better but of course the Apple way is backed up by Apple Stores, which sell merely one brand
You spelled shutter wrong. there s a faiytale in there somewhere
I admire Leica cameras as things of beauty and gorgeous workmanship.
Alas, should your style of photography will not be precisely what these were designed for, they may be pretty much useless.
I d still like to own one, but at 10k or so for just a basic setup, they may be way down around my priority list
I work inside semiconductor industry, if there industrial tooling is anything like there camera s there overprice, under perform, over-engineered and usually break in various different ways for no reason at all. We don t run any Cannon Industrial Tooling so I can t talk to those, our Nikons excel enough though
Joe: Sort of like German cars, then. That is, the attractiveness and apparent craftsmanship connected with a product often has little to do featuring its reliability:.
So for you, the efforts of Mssrs. Gruber, Arment, and Siegler are worth the 10 billion difference in marketing budgets between both companies?
I ll bet for the measly 9 billion they might win over those guys.
Nothing is designed for free. Do you count being given products to examine and likely keep as free? Being given all-expense paid trips as free? Or money surreptitiously slipped in the pocket of your less than savory blogger as free?
Please don t be so naive about think which the PR/promotion game is lilly white. Behind the scenes is often a very dirty war for your hearts and minds on the influencers. On the surface, bloggers and journalists don t produce a lot of money. Do you think which a 30-something blogger really wants to spend their life working at Best Buy or Domino s Pizza, writing your website from their bedroom at their parents house? They re just like greedy and easily swayed because the rest of us.
So when a nice-looking woman from the PR or promotion firm comes knocking on the door bearing gifts, do you imagine that some two-bit blogger still driving a classic Chevy Citation is going to spew forth platitudes about not accepting honorarium as a result of journalistic integrity? Please.
You mean such as guys that got stuck in the foreign land wearing a samsung t-shirt?
And how many of these tech bloggers are read because of the ordinary consumer?
Were you paid by Samsung to convey that.
Looks like many nice comments about samsung smartphones are compiled by people like you who are about the take from them.
Try your idea that SA was being sarcastic, hence the 43 nowadays positives without the need of negatives over a site dominated by curiosity about Apple s success.
That s the advantage of irony. Only a few obtain it
I think a lot of folks don t are aware of the meaning from the word marketing. Apple is really a great technology drive marketing machine, and that's why they make great items which actual people want as soon as the products exist. Most companies spend their marketing budget on advertising. Which is backwards but nice for the people creative younger people in ad agencies
The truly shameful volume of hamfisted product placement probably doesn t hurt Apple s main point here.
