First, I want to explain that with the first time in the long time, Ive found security software that runs quietly from the background without hogging system resources, and without acquiring it my way. I am impressed that Symantec has finally addressed this.
Second, and most importantly because it may save some costs!: I just purchased the 2012 version of this device. From inside 2012 software, there can be an option to update on the 2013 version free of charge. Installing the 2012 version only took 60 seconds or so. Downloading and installing the 2013 update only took one or two more minutes.
The moral in the story? Before you purchase this version, find out if the 2012 version remains available. If it is, and its particular cheaper, understand it! Youll end up together with the 2013 version anyway, and youll save a number of bucks.

I purchase Norton Internet Security since 2007 and has now improved year in year out. I enjoyed using NIS 2013 during beta on Windows 8. NIS 2013 will not bring any major changes from 2012 except extra cloud-supported management features, faster performance, and Windows 8 compatibility.
Now the interesting thing about Norton products is that by having an active subscription you might be entitled towards the most up-to-date software, at no cost. I was earlier thinking of going to staples and purchasing Norton Internet Security 2013, have the Instant Rebate and then obtain the easy rebate netting to 39.99. Instead I traveled to Amazon and purchased the Norton Internet Security 2013-1User/3PC download for 19.99. I didnt even were forced to download as I had the choice of seeing the modern product key. With that key I just opened my existing Norton, chose Renew, entered the item key and Done!!. I am best for another 365 That was Easy. No pun intended Staples remains to be one of my personal favorite store.

Having been a contented Norton Internet Security user more than 10 years, on this occasion my advice is to have to wait for more weeks or months till Norton fixes existing problems. NIS 2013 affects your windows 7 login and shutdown processes taking 40 to 50 seconds more than usual. your laptop seams sluggish occasionally. Sometimes following windows 7 login, laptop freezes because of problems. Have had some crashes with firefox and chrome as a result of Norton addin. The new interface is complex if this was so simple in NIS 2012. It makes you feel the merchandise is still on Beta. NIS2013 version 20.1.1.2. My PC config is i7, 6GB RAM and virus free.

Ive been using NIS mainly because it first arrived on the scene but am now trying to find alternatives. While I do not have any complaints using the security features on the program they've already completely destroyed the safety vault. Instead of storing the details locally continues to be stored on their own cloud! I dont trust our secure data being stored anyplace where I do not have control of it. This has been described by many users at Norton will not budge! Theyre gonna be losing many users because on this.

I purchased Norton products for that PC and Mac over 20 years. Based on my latest experience, I will NEVER purchase another Norton product. I installed NIS 2013 after that upgrading to Windows 8. NIS 2013 simply doesnt assist Windows 8. I started having issues downloading emails, then problems installing program/app updates. I suspected NIS may well be a problem, so I disabled it. Then I couldnt re-establish NIS. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the NIS, same problems as before. While within the phone with Norton tech support, my computer crashes and I cant recover. They let me know to call Microsoft tech support. Windows recovery disk also doesnt work. MS also cant help, lacking telling me to wipe my computer clean, then reinstall Windows 8. Finally, I was competent to uninstall NIS whilst in Safe Mode. By the way, Windows 8 is sold with Anti-Virus which both Norton and MS didn't mention in my experience. I guaranteed that Windows 8 anti-virus was enabled and I havent stood a problem since.

Okay, let's begin with of all, on the whole, it has been a great product so far as performance goes. Ive had no difficulties with installation, configuration, resource usage, cpu usage, etc. And I must state that this surprised me somewhat, after having read quite a number of customer reviews from various places, and in addition having read opinions, comments and user experiences on some forums.
However theres always a however, isnt
1 During installation, I was required to build an online account with Norton in order to perform the installation. This was not specified inside the product description, and I had virtually no idea about this. So, shame on Amazon for not explicitly stating ALL stipulations required with the product. But more shame would go to Norton for deceptive practices. Who are they to require me to generate an account? What if I would rather think about it for just a while to make a decision whether or not their online services are worth it for me? I am not provided that choice. They require their email and other personal data from me to make the account, telling me that such information aren't going to be made available to some other entity. But everyone knows that is really a crock of nonsense, because it is relatively easy to get a company to disseminate such information for own benefit using deceptive means while still technically adhering towards the letter in the law.
2 The software installs itself to be a service on Windows. The service is listed from the services management console, but I cannot change any setting for your service, despite the fact that I am an administrator around the machine. Read more
