Q uicken was my first review of personal finance as a possible adult. With the magic of the computer and budgeting software, balancing my checkbook took seconds. It was obvious where i was spending money. And the reporting tools managed to get easy to assess where we stood financially. So I jumped in the chance yesterday to review with normal folks at Intuit the modern Quicken 2012.
The question with a whole new version of Quicken is often, what s new. In the case of Quicken 2012, the brand new features are very nice, however, not revolutionary. The two key the latest features are improvements to your budgeting tool and an excellent debt elimination widget.
If you ve used Quicken inside past, you re informed about its spreadsheet-like budgeting tool. With the 2012 version, Intuit has borrowed by which Intuit got a new few years ago, to introduce a mechanical budgeting tool. Quicken will appear at the method that you ve spent money from the past, and make a budget dependant on your spending history. Using a bar graph, you'll be able to easily find out how much you ve spent in each category through the entire month.
Quicken has also caused it to be very all to easy to edit each category. With a number of clicks with the mouse you are able to increase or reduce budgeted amount for each and every category. Check out the video below for any look at this new budget tool:
One with the absolute best moves it is possible to make is to purchase rid of unsecured debt. Of course, it is a lot easier said than done. With Quicken 2012, Intuit has got a very useful debt elimination tool.
The tool investigates all of your debit card and other debt, and maps out just how long it will take you to get away from debt making the minimum payments. It also tracks the amount of in appeal to your interest ll pay.
You might run through what-if scenarios to find out how paying extra month after month will get you debt free faster along with less money. You can customize the order during which you ll pay off the debt highest rate of interest first, smallest balance first, or possibly a customized approach. The tool also let s you're making a cash on your financial troubles, and teaches you the impact this can have in your debt repayment plan.
As almost as much as I like this new tool, themselves it doesn t justify the upgrade. There are lots of similar tools such as this one from CNN which do the same. Still, it s a pleasant addition to a already solid personal finance program.
Intuit also has added 24 hours a day chat support. You can chat online having an Intuit representative to resolve any questions maybe you have about its products.
As with past versions, the Quicken 2012 products includes these programs:
Quicken Starter Edition 29.99: For consumers who wish a simple strategy to organize their finances and also be on top of bills
Quicken Deluxe 59.99: For those who need to save more; helps create custom budget, savings and debt reduction plans.
Quicken Premier 89.99: For those who manage investments and also plan ahead for tax time.
Quicken Home Business 99.99: For people who wish to manage their business and finances inside the same place
Quicken Rental Property Manager 149.99: For rental house owners looking to regulate their personal, business and accommodation finances in a single.
If you don t have Quicken, the choice comes down to whether you would like to pay with the desktop program or use totally free. I use, partly because I run Macs Quicken 2012 is good for PCs only. I ve been pleased with Mint, although Quicken 2012 without doubt offers more features. And some folks don t like having their financial data offered to Mint.
As for those seeking to upgrade, it genuinely comes down towards the budgeting tool. If you use Quicken to your monthly budget, the upgrade may be worth the cost i think. If you don t use Quicken to budget, then you definately may wish to pass about the upgrade.

Macintosh is again a booming platform. Why are you ignoring it?
After pestering Intuit for several years, it's extremely good to determine they have finally returned with a fully edit-able spreadsheet budget, and tied it with a color bar user interface to boot. This is best for all those of us who spend at a budget as opposed to budget from spending. Thanks to the review.
David, interesting distinction between spend from budget as opposed to budget from spending. I had never considered budgeting from that angle, that is a big difference. I think I get into the budget from spending category, which can be less ideal at a money management perspective.

David, Am I paraphrasing you correctly.
Budget to inform your money what to do, as an alternative to budget to tracks where your hard earned dollars went.
I am a while Quicken user. Has anyone notices how slow 2012 appears to be? On-line updates take over 15 min, when 2011 made it happen in a number of. Same with entering data in accounts: it pauses. I am running under Windows 7 32 bit. It just isn't the hardware; 2011 was simply faster.

I have similar problem. Have you received any suggestions? I was running 2009 deluxe just great but was told that quicken would stop supporting that older version so I upgraded tonight along with the speed is horrible!
I have the identical problem intermittently. It seems the main culprit is updating Historical Prices personally. I would prefer to go time for version 2011 that has been much faster.
Have to include my voice to prospects complaints concerning the One Step Update speed. Not sure what s taking way too long, given how the older version was much, considerably quicker. What s track of this Intuit? Lame.

One Step Update is incredibly unstable in Quicken 2012. It crashes the program all the time if you could have a big report on accounts or any corrupt data. Terrible software.
Sun, many thanks letting us know. I makes use of the Mac version Quicken Essentials and I ve had no issue with the one-step update. Have you reported the bug to Quicken?
can t locate a phone number to call about purchase of your product. now using
Wayne, the easiest method to buy the present version of Quicken is online from Amazon. Here s a hyperlink to Amazon s Quicken page.
I am currently running Quicken Premier 2009. Recently I received a 2012 Upgrade CD. I deeply resent having to upgrade to your new version, especially since I have to purchase it. I don t need many in the features around the 2012 version but am having to upgrade simply because you will no longer keep the 2009 version. I believe Quicken should older versions for upwards of three years.
I paid the value too with the upgrade. Now I can t do online billpayment. 2009 worked fine. Now I had to pay for any version that doesn t work. Bring back Microsoft Money!
I am using 2010 at the moment. I purchased Quicken since Quicken 6 within the 90s. I upgrade begrudgingly because as one user above alludes to, every version has noticeably worse performance thane what came before. They keep changing the interface without much awareness of whats within the hood. As a software engineer myself, I shudder to think of simply how much indirection is taking place to make an item so slow on multi-core multi-GHz hardware. Did they hire around the MS Vista team? I ll be keeping my 2010 for awhile and which I could still use Quicken 2000 the way it did everything I needed, fast!

Purchased Quicken Deluxe ay costco for 39.99. Today I start to see the same on my own aol e-mail for 29.99. What gives? I used intuit products since 2000. I am now unemployed and may stand just to save a buck or two.
I bought quicken deluxe 2012 some time ago, it seems that I can t get my savings account balance right with bank username and password, there is obviously a difference. when coming up with an adjustment to discover the balances evenquicken online checking account a while later a fresh difference shows again. the numbers and transactions are accurate web in quicken, but for the end the check is difference. I aimed to uninstall and re-install quicken 2012 but same task happens again, so I am back using 2010 which works perdectly. Any ideas about this?seems like I wasted my funds on 2012.
I will share the same problem if I download from my lending institution after the start of an normal work day. It seems, the lending institution will, only, allow transactions that happen to be posted within the previous day or earlier to become download; but the present balance downloaded is exact for the minute. I resolved the issue by downloading the information between midnight and 8:00 AM.
I used Quicken happily since its inception but Q2012 is garbage! Unuseable budgeting tool, period.
Amen! Cannot make any sense with the budget tool in any respect. And the choices it makes to me are just absurd. A waste.
I just asked for any refund for my Quicken 2012. After spending my whole morning with tech support at Quicken via live chat, not number that one could actually call without getting able to fix just how Quicken interfaces with my banking institution, and my savings accounts being blocked three times to be a result requiring tech support in the bank, I have decided it s not more than worth it. I loved my 2009 version that came free with my computer.
Quicken 2012 crashes on every easy update. Support line couldn t do just about anything and pretended they new nothing regarding the issue, yet I find references everywhere over the web over it, even their forums!
Frustrated. Have many data, and was fine until Quicken forced me to upgrade. Not sure what my next plan is uninstall? Abandon for??
I THINK QUICKENS 2012 IS AMAZING! BOUGHT IT, DOWNLOADED IT AND IMMIEDIALTLY MY CHECKING ACCOUNT GREW BY 22, 000.00, NOT ONLY THE ONE ACCOUNT BUT EVERY ACCOUNT I HAVE GREW, BY DIFFERANT AMOUNTS, AND THE BEST THING IT WOULDN T LET ME GET RID OF IT, SO NOW I HAVE TO FIGURED WHAT TO SPEND THIS NEW WINFALL ON? ANY SUGGESTINS?
THE PEOPLE AT QUICKENS, IF THERE ARE ANY, DON T READ THESE BLOGS OR CARE, THEY GOT YOUR DOLLARS AND THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE, I HAVE USED QUICKENS FOR MANY YEARS UPGRADING ABOUT EVERY 2 YEARS. I FEEL LIKE THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME! TIME TO FIND SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!!!
I am undecided what most people are complaining about. I have had no issues whatsoever. when I updated from Quiken 2010 Deluxe, everything transferred right across without the need of issues. I like a couple of of the revolutionary features, but haven t tried everything yet. My banking downloads be effective, it doesn t seem slow, I guess its all reliant on perspective, but I think it works perfectly.
I guess we have seen those that have problems posting within frustration as an alternative to a true picture I have already been using Quicken 2012 as it came out, returning a couple of versions since converting from Money. I can declare that Quicken 2012 is dependable and gives an amazing good experience with the program in wanting to manage one s finance. While not perfect, they are doing respond to problems. My guess is always that those who are having slower download speeds in Quicken 2012 rather than in previous versions probably accomplish something different including using Web connect in lieu of Direct connect on some accounts that's not as efficient which enables it to give longer download times. My advice is to try to get it right will probably be invaluable for you.
I ve been using Quicken since 1987, upgrading every couple years approximately. The 2010 version upgraded to 2012 version smoothly and everything appears to be correct. I have found the new features in 2012 aren t of great importance and use in my experience. I would prefer to see a simpler to use budget feature 2012 is way too automated for my taste. The only real complaint that I have with Quicken is an issue that I have attempting to reconcile your time and money accounts. The banking and bank card accounts reconcile fine, although not the investment accounts. I must many years of investment information to consider a chance on something being wrong so I be sure the accounts match the brokerage numbers each and every month, and not through the reconciliation process. I m in the rural area employing a satellite connection and have absolutely not had any noticeable challenge with downloading information it s faster pc was when I was on dial-up.
Quicken 2012 is often a disaster. If you might be forced to upgraded, check out 2011 and hope 2013 corrects the bugs. The budget, which to many is the most important feature has become unusable. The automatic features can not be turned off a great number of functions can be a mystery you just need to trust the calulations to become correct. The budget doesn t show plus or minus - signs but does use them inside the calulations you recently can t tell where these are being applied. The budget now rolls for calendar year, so you may t return and fix previous months if you happen to be just starting or estimated incorrectly.
I believe products should improve with each release when they've got been around so long as Quicken. Intuit comes with an interesting means of forcing users to purchase new releases by discontinuing the internet functionality of older versions. Quicken 2012 doesnt apparently offer any noteworthy improvements over version 2009. However, you can find bugs that produce the update feature work sporatically and take significantly longer to update accounts that older versions. It is disappointing that there seem for being inherent bugs or conflicts.
I AM STANDING IN A VAST WASTELAND OF QUICKEN TECHS? WITH NAMES I CANT PRONOUNCE. THEY ALL PRETEND THAT I AM THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEM OF THE ONE-STEP UPDATES BETWEEN 2012 AND BANK OF AMERICA.
I PURCHASED AND DOWNLOADED QUICKEN VERSION R5 ON JANUARY 10, 2012. ON MARCH 2, MY ONE-STEP UPDATES STOPPED TRANSMITTING. IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE MY LAST DOWNLOAD AND I HAVE SENT IN MY LOG FILES TO YOU INNUMERABLE TIMES WITH NO FEEDBACK OR SATISFACTION. BANK OF AMERICA SAYS THEIR END LOOKS GOOD, QUICKEN-INTUIT SAYS ITS MY FAULT. COME ON!! I WOULDNT BE SO TICVKED OFF EXCEPT I SEE ABOUT 80% OF YOUR USERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS I DO EXACTLY BANK OF AMERICA AND QUICKEN NEED TO GET THEIR TECHS WORKING ON THIS THING TOGETHER. IT MAKES BOTH COMPANIES LOOK VERY BAD.
NEVER MIND ABOUT WORKING ON IT, JUST GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK 52.99 IF YOU PLEASE! I HAVE SPENT HOURS AND HOURS ON THIS PROBLEM AND MOSTLY ON THE PHONE WITH PEOPLE WHO KEEP SENDING ME E-MAIL AND FIXES THAT DO NOT WORK. I AM THROUGH WITH YOU PEOPLE!
I am very tech savvy, provide top end consulting services to large companies, write custom applications for commercial use, etc. I was compelled to upgrade to Q2012 from Q2009 in order to get able to still perform bank-account updates. I grudgingly succeeded as I detest each time a company forces users to obtain upgrades beneath the pretense the older product, which worked fine, is not really supported, therefore magically eventually the banking online update routine reduces with a bit message nevertheless As you know No, I didn't know, you jerks. But I pay with the upgrade to 2012 and set it up. It looks as it is likely to work, and following conversion on the new formatting for my data everything looked as it was fine until I attempted to own the Online Center Update/Send routine. Yep, abdominal muscles routine which in fact had been disabled in Q2009 and forcing me right into a Q2012 update. Well, do you know what? Every time I make an effort to perform the Update/Send my Q2012 app closes! No warning, no error message, it closes.
So I use the web based chat support for the weekend, and obtain one useless goof who had me do a little cleanup routines, then explained I had to uninstall and reinstall the app. Of course that will need a reboot so he wants me to go back to tech support if you can find any other difficulties.
There were other conditions. I performed the uninstall and reinstall, suspecting I had just been blown off. Sure enough, it did not good. So I reunite with another tech support rep, anf the husband tells me I need to uninstall again, then delete all directories before I reinstall. I advise I did by using the prior uninstall as directed. He then says I need to manually make the directories on Drive C before performing the reinstallation! What a fphooking idiot! On top of that I had to create a whole new administrator level user account to set up the app with after deleting the last administrator level account. I advise I make use of the Windows default administrator account, connected to your Domain Controller, where there was no way I could delete the administrator account whether or not I planned to. Further, if I were to create a brand new admin level user account migrating all my apps and data for our 34 machines and keep access consistent for many PCs wasn't a reasonable course of action in an effort to attempt to be pretending to fix the situation Q2012 created.
I can t continue to say how irritated I am without my blood start to boil. This would be the most fouled up section of krap I have had the displeasure to own been bound to. Nice job, Intuit. You have alienated a previously satisfied user.
2012 Quicken is often a piece of crap! Takes to really miss One-Step account updates tend not to occur. What a waste. Will be looking for other financial software from the future.
I ended up being a satisfied Quicken user ever since the DOS versions. Starting using the 2009 I have had stability problems. I have upgraded to 2010 then to 2012. These versions usually do not work any benefit. After long and difficult hours I have spoken with tech support repeatedly. There the desired info is always uninstall, delete and re-install. Having succeeded in doing so fools errand many times the problems only have gotten worse. While updates work ok to me, this program goes into loops of not responding arbitrarily times when I enter data or change entries. The only method to stop the flashing as not responding is designed for me to head over to Task manager and end process the re-start Quicken. This has gotten on the point where I am afraid make use of Quicken any longer. I hate to exchange to another product in the end these years, but I desire a financial program I can be determined by.
Have been using Quicken since version 2 of DOS. The Rolling budget of 2012 is almost useless. There are users much like me out there that plan us, so plan I finances. Have had to go to some spreadsheet. Is there a solution to roll back in 2011? Unbelievable! Looking for a whole new program!
i own a rug cleaning business and purchase quicken to print the checks and track with the expenses. i've got a canned program with the invoicing from the business. 2012 would have been a upgrade from 2009. i liked the memorized feature better while using 2009 version. 2012 keeps every one of the transactions memorized and doesn t give me a possibility to just save the most up-to-date check paid over a monthly acct. some times in addition, i had the check register go goofy. i did to visit options to discover the check register restored back in normal.
i do such as backup feature plus the reminder. really quick to backup to your flash drive. for that i see no need for carbonite of quicken to save the details. overall i was trying to not upgrage again when i will retire in 5 yrs. even so think i am going to upgrade in 2013 when i think 2012 has bugs.-jbm
John, many thanks for sharing your exposure to Quicken. It s necessary to hear the perspective of an business owner.
October 26, 2012 at 10:41 pm
i am ruinning 2012 home/business as the 2009 version has not been going for being supported anymore. i exploit quicken merely to write checks and track of expenses to send out 1099 s in the end from the yr. 2012 is ok but 2009 version would save my latest check printed in memory but 2012 doesn t. reconciling requires more clicking. not required.
i recently had a brand new computer built with this particular old school. i am talking about real old fashioned. this computer runs window xp professional so i could run a dbase II program along with a foxpro program. there on the 1970 s. 5 yrs. to retire then your whole thing can magnify. I WON T CARE!!!-jbm
One comment is the fact that Quicken 2011 and I think this could be true for 2012 too really did start to get processor bound in this little older Celeron 2.4 GHz computer. This was to some extent due to on-board graphics which ate processor cycles. The combination with Quicken wanting to refresh those graphical screens just slowed the machine to your crawl. I could not use Quicken while browsing online or playing music the background music would skip and stutter.
I recently changed to some dual core i7 laptop, wow, what a change. Also updating got faster again. Updating from 5-7 online passwords went from taking slightly below 6 minutes to about 40 seconds
So folks using 2011 or later with performance issues-consider going to some faster processor machine or at best one that has a dedicated graphics card.
Hope this is employed to some.

I just updated from Quicken 2000 to Quicken 2012. I would have kept using Q2000 but my old computer died. I was competent to get my data straight into Q2012 however when I manage a Profit and Loss statement it says there aren t any transactions. I read about tags that are new if you ask me; my reading indicated that if that you are only running one business through Quicken then you definately don t should tag the transactions. I did tag several transactions just to determine if the P L would pull them in but no luck. Can anyone let me figure out why the P L won t work? I get data when I complete a transaction report but nothing about the P L. After tagging some transactions my P L has become showing uncategorized transactions that is all I am getting.
During conversion here was obviously a prompt asking if I desired to bring my existing reports straight into Q12. The tech quy helping me setup the modern computer and Q12 answered no. I didn t think anything over it because they were just reports. I figured I could create a whole new report easily enough.

I decide to upgrade to 2012. I now take over 2009. I do not desire to load 2009 for the new quicken. Can I load 2012 and 2009? jaj

Even after Intuit acquired Mint and its particular executives, the business keeps bouncing the private finance app Quicken around.
October 10, 2011 3:14 PM PDT
October 10, 2011 3:14 PM PDT
Every year, Intuit releases a different version of Quicken. Most years, I interview some honcho at Intuit whos running the private finance division therefore we talk about the spot that the category will be. The meetings got considerably more interesting a two years ago, when Mint threw a monkey wrench into the private finance software market, which ended in Intuit acquiring Mint and attracting its CEO, Aaron Patzer, to re-light the Quicken production. You can download Quicken Premier, Quicken Home Business, and Quicken Deluxe from CNET
Patzer arrived with grand visions and ideas for making Quicken a much more modern and relevant app. He planned to integrate Quicken with Mint and rewrite the app from scratch to generate it feasible for Intuit developers to update it with greater frequency. And by update it, he meant really improve it, not simply add peripheral extra features and re-skin the app each and every year, as theyve been doing for regarding the last 10.
Patzer, though, is not really running the Quicken group at Intuit. Instead, Aaron Forth, another Mint executive who came along together with the acquisition, is with the wheel. He has similar talking points as Patzer, but his time at Intuit renders him more realistic or simply resigned regarding the future of Quicken, the most up-to-date version which, Quicken 2012, became available today.
Quicken 2012 makes it possible to see how its promises to spend down personal credit card debt will assist you save money. Intuit
The platform in the future is Mint, Forth laughed and said. Not reassuring words in an old Quicken user as i am, nor perhaps on the large but dwindling proportion on the population that relies around the old app to handle their personal finances. Forth says the Mint Web app will receive the main features it needs to become a credible replacement for Quicken: bill payment and even more serious investment tracking. He doesnt say when, though.
Meanwhile, Quicken 2012 receives a re-skin and many good but hardly ground-breaking updates. It now uses Mints categorization engine, thus it can auto-file expenses more accurately, plus it connects right to 18, 000 banking companies, up from about 6, 000.
Quicken 2012 has new recession-friendly features. It will allow you to manage repayment plans for reducing multiple charge cards, as an example.
Its got a refreshed UI as well as an option for bigger fonts, Forth tells me. Apparently Quickens member is getting so old that Intuit needed to create it right into a large-print app. Im not kidding. And, frankly, as one with the old guys whos been using Quicken since 1988, and that has, subsequently, acquired trifocals, I have fun here.
Really big updates are coming, Forth says, inside the next version of Quicken.
Ill wait and without holding my breath even for just a second. I recommend that other users wait likewise, except for all those who are still using Quicken 2008 or previous.
Thats because Intuit is continuing its policy of sunsetting Quicken versions after four years. It only supports the existing and previous three versions in the app with online features. Older versions keep function, nevertheless they cant download financial data transactions, share prices, etc. from online services.
Like Patzer was, Forth is not any fan on the sunsetting policy, but he tells it doesnt be employed by Intuit to support all of the old versions with the app. He says that annual subscription to Quicken software might be the solution to keep users up-to-date and make sure not a soul suffers from an inadvertent sunset on his or her active software. Patzer mentioned Quicken going into a subscription model, too; Intuit is apparently no better implementing it.
In the meantime, the economic chaos is doing wonders for Mints growth, or else Quickens. As the market falls, Mint registrations rise, Forth laughed and said. People bother about having money. And Mint, unlike Quicken, is a complimentary way in order to it.
Stay tuned for additional news soon about whats happening to Quicken around the Mac, and much more developments inside the Mint series.
Dont be fooled from the Corollas aggressive style. This compact sedan is concerning as milquetoast the way it gets.

The stated reason behind these editions should be to avoid any ongoing online activation/re-activation complications with old software. Do be aware that this online abilities are disabled no online quotes, no bill payment, no statement downloads initiated by Money, no data sync with MSN Money online services. There will cease any additional support offered by Microsoft, only online self-help and through other users.
Money Plus Sunset Deluxe is designed to become a option to expired versions of Money Plus Essentials, Money Plus Deluxe, and Money Plus Premium versions. Money Plus Sunset Home and Business is designed being a replace expired versions of Money Plus Home and Business.
If you re okay with staying offline, this version of MS Money might serve just as one adequate free personal accounting and tracking software for any while longer. You can still manually import MS Money OFX files from the bank or other finance institutions. The Business versions allow to your account print invoices. If you've got an older version of Money, it is basically a totally free upgrade on the last edition sold.
Otherwise, it s probably time to look at another look at Intuit Quicken in the event you still require a full-featured desktop solution, which starts at about 40.
Last updated: October 16, 2011
Transition is painful for the reason that importer is poor quality. And then your bound to Quicken brimming with bugs now the only choice.
I ve enjoyed using MS Money with the past number of years and will definitely download this thanks. I have tried Mint and Yodlee and may t appear to really release. Plus they don t seem to would like to interface with my lending institution which makes keeping on top of my banking account difficult.
Time to upgrade my Money 2001 software. I have been very happy with it and do not saw a must pay for an upgrade in order to fiddle with a complimentary after rebate deal in order to get it. Thanks!
excel spread sheets balance sheet and income statement is good for me personally. Too much time gets spent with reconciliation with desktop software.
Sweet! This will tide me over nicely for a minimum of a few more years. Maybe right at that moment there will likely be something else within the market which will be worth researching. Granted I ve used Quicken, but I m not inside the mood to go spend on it when Microsoft is giving out a complimentary upgrade. Besides, I ve been manually downloading my OFX statements for many years. Thanks to the post!
It will be nice if MS released the file format for your MS Money versions so people could begin open source alternatives with less hassle.
It appears like Home and Business will be the more expensive product. Is there any reason to work with Deluxe over Home and Business?
I want to use quicken online it s free, but it really doesn t seem as it s offered anymore for brand spanking new members, it directs you to which can be also devoid of quicken.
christine Nope, Intuit bought Mint and contains shut down further continuing development of Quicken Online. No new users are even allowed since you say, making sure that s why I don t mention it anymore.
Home Business could be more confusing for the user that doesn t possess a small business, as much business related Income and Expense categories are created for your user which could never get used.
For those that desire to use the Sunset editions of Money like they still had Online capabilities, look at my Blog:
Does anyone determine this would help files currently in Money 98 yeah I know just never saw much benefit in updating. I actually just loaded the 98 software on my small new Windows 7 computer, surprisingly without difficulties.
Am I missing something here or what? Where will be the link to download it?
The links are inside the first sentence, but perhaps your browser settings are preventing the connection from working. Here s the particular link:
Hi Joey, yes, you missed the links inside the first paragraph, just click for the product name that you would like.
i m somewhat confused here. i take advantage of money 2003 just put it on my own updated windows 7 machine likewise to enter and track my data, using like a system to substantiate my data online. i usually do not use it update any one of my, i use the update prices online choice to simply get updated prices for my portfolio.
will eliminate that?
Unfortunately, Quicken can be a piece of krap comparing with latest editions of MsMoney.
I went on together with the general recommendation and I lost almost seven days in correcting importing errors. I m using MsMoney for 12 a number of I have the information to the all 12 yers. Obviously I didn t go correcting errors previous to 2010; I just checked how the numbers were ok.
I have canadian accounts and US accounts. Quicken doesn t work this way. You re either canadian or maybe you re US. If you buy the canadian version you've to type in the US account statement manually.
When you contact them, tech support team is 15 per call; one issue only. Obviously, I refused to spend on this type of problem. I m a high level user and I didn t call them to inform me where s the slot to inser the CD
E-mailing them costs nothing, though.
I tryed to transmit them an e-mail there was a message like: due to high level of messages, you should expect a response in 3 business days. And the message didn t go trough. There became a Java script error
I have Stocks porfolio. Quicken has lost most of my US stocks when importing from MsMoney. I had to go into them manually, then again, it stood a hard time using the currency conversion.
When you might have registered investment accounts like RRSP in Canada or 401k in US, Quicken is treating the Cash part from the account to be a completely different account. So you turn out having a Cash balance along with an Investment balance.
Right now, I m using MsMoney 2007 fully operational. There is not any canadian verision from it, but I haven't any problem to utilize canadian banks and investments. I thought that likely to Quicken will almost certainly help me with my taxes; besides is supposed for being a supported software.
My advise is: follow MsMoney for as long as it is possible to. I red here a thief is utilizing the 98 version. That s an excellent proof of good, reliable tool produce.
Unfortunately personally, the Sunset edition doesn t appear to have the web quoting choice for stocks. So, I d need to update my portfolio manually. Again, 2007 was an extremely good year! it mat be the wine was good that year; we ll observe that.:
click in this little name and I think you ll be happy to get a means of obtaining your quotes together with your standard bank statement downloads. Sunset edition should live for quite a bit, unless Quicken pulls the plug
Tried Money plus there doesn t seem to get an option of entering deposits inside the Bills Summary since there was inside earlier versions. Without that it's quite useless.
Tried all of them and MS Money does it to me. Unfortunately Wachovia bank is announcing that it's going to discontinue download button for OFX downloads on account of non-support by Microsoft. I even received an email from one of my lending institutions that they too will probably be eliminating OFX down loads. That will certainly limit the opportunity to download manually. Am I tied to Quicken?
I are employed in IT/Software and I cannot use whatever valid reason to take out OFX downloads. LOTS of people employ a good product which is suddenly no more supported. Who cares? I have version 2001 and I not have issues! This makes no sense.
Microsoft must have turned over the foundation code making this a wide open source project. That would are actually awesome!
Sorry Christian.I checked the Wachovia site again and from the support section for MS Money it is clear that at the time of Jan 31 2011, the download option is going to be removed for many Money downloads. which makes Sunset somewhat useless, unless there is often a file conversion coming from a Quicken download and Money. Quicken will be the sole download sold at Wachovia. Wells Fargo has now disabled Money downloads by reviewing the Credit accounts they own Wachovia.
Microsoft should send some form of courtesy notice towards the banks that Sunset exits understanding that downloads might be completed manually.
Are we doomed if there is really a bug inside the sunset version?
I ve been using Money for quite a while. I upgraded to your sunset version as I just bought a whole new computer. I had many Favorite reports inside my old version. When I first started using the new edition, it errored whenever I looked over a saved report. It said something an invalid format. So, I deleted them and figured I would recreate them. But, when I check out save a Favorite report, it seems want it does it, but it will not be actually saved.
It will be described as a pain if I ought to recreate my customized reports each and every time.
Mary My favorite reports imported okay from Money 2005 on the Sunset version. I ve even saved new favorite reports considering that the transition. I wonder if problems you re experiencing are due with a corrupt data file. Do you've got the same problems when opening a different MNY file?
I ve been using 2002 Money Deluxe for several years never an excuse to upgrade and still have always downloaded Money account files manually through the website.
I learned that my version of Money will FileImport Wachovia s Quicken QFX files flawlessly. I download the oldest version Quicken files.
I m unsure if earlier or later versions of Money have this import capability. Should anybody need to try it, MAKE A COPY OF YOUR MONEY FILE FIRST in case you can find problems.
What I don t understand is if you might be directly connecting on your bank for act. transactions checkingsavings, why would this fail after 1/1/2011? I can see if you happen to be using Microsoft as being a third party provider, but or even, it must continue as normal. Does anyone know why? Also, does anyone know whom will be the provider for portfolio updates? If you simply utilize update menue selection 2007 ver, who's providing the cost update per portfolio act.investment act.? Is this a consolidator or does the software program contact each institutuion with ticker symbols and retrieve a recently available price?
I don t know why you believe Statement Imports won t assist new versions of Money including Sunset. This capability continue it s the automatic Online updates that won't function. All on the stocks and funds which can be part with the Statement updates OFX and QIF imports should have the updated quotes shown inside Portfolio views. The Python scripts allow importing these statements without going for the individual websites, logging on, and initiating the download. In some instances, the capabilty to download your computer data doesn t even exist on some with the websites.
The MSN servers did far more than grab just these statement downloads though: independent stock and fund quotes for ALL your investments, move through third-party web-scrapes of your computer data, investment news, tax and forex rates, etc. which is all coming into a halt, whether or not this hasn t already.
I ONLY USE MONEY PLUS TO ENTER IN THE REGISTER. I DO NOT GO ONLINE AS MY HUSBAND HAS A FIT. I LIKE THE CATERAGORIES SECTION, INCOME EXPENSES. IS THIS GOING TO EFFECT THOSE FITURES? AS WELL AS A RUNNING BALANCE INCLUDING DEPOSITS.
Microsoft said just to save the downloaded Money Sunset and install from that copy, but uninstall oklder versions of Money first. How do I transfer my files? Your advice will likely be much appreciated.
HOW DO I TRANSFER MY OLD INFORMATION TO THE NEW DOWNLOADED MONEY PLUS SUNSET DELUXE VERSION. EVERYTIME I TRY TO OPEN IT HAS A NOTICE FROM MICROSOFT THAT REQUIRES REOPENING AN ACCOUNT. ALSO I CAN T SEEM TO GET IT TO OPEN FROM MY DESKTOP. ANYONE KNOWS WHAT TO DO?
Has anybody identified how to update the tax rates inside Sunset version? Mine are grayed out.
Although, it s not an ideal solution, I talk that in my blogpage /2010/02/21/updating-tax-rates-manually/I wouldn t be amazed if hleofxquotes hasn t worked out an alternate solution along with his sunriise package too link above.
I recently downloaded Money Sunset Edition. I m giving up on Quicken after many years. I am primarily thinking about Money to follow my spending. I make frequent by using reports for spending, categories, comparison, taxes etc. I utilize memo field extensively. My impression thus far is how the reports in Money will be more rigid than Quicken. Do you agree? Also can the info be downloaded to Excel with regard to added sorting and manipulation? This would be really nice at tax time.
I know your websites are involved with security downloads, but I m just seeking to get started. If you cannot help, is it possible to direct me with a source of Money information.
I ve been using this for the couple of years now, plus it is great. I think it will get together my needs for quite some time to come. I actually enjoy it better compared to the paid version of Money it replaced. I never used all the internet features which they disabled anyway.
hI, I have already been using MS Money 2002 home and small businss within the uk for 10 years for any small sports club. Never used the web based statements till recently, but when we finally got online banking i attempted it. It squeeze statement into the banking accounts on money fine and also associated together with the manual inputs I had alredy invest but where there became a transaction that wasnt already input, it assinged a number to your payee that i'm unable to assign that to your an invoice, it's like i ought to input everything manually, makes use of the statement download to substantiate, only find something for the statement that say i dont offer an invoice for, i think must delete it and input manually. Is this rght or am i merely way off of the mark. I tried sunset nevertheless its terminology is different and it also wouldnt use my old money files so it had been a total rebuild i dont have time and energy to do really.
Hi RobL, I was using MS Money 2001 since 2001 and I had no trouble upgrading to Money Plus Sunset Deluxe. It works great in my opinion running about the Windows 7 64-bit operating-system. I recommend you try again for getting it to utilize a back-up of your respective Money 2002 files; however, I acknowledge how the small business edition will often have issues that I haven t seen inside the personal one.
I are already using Money Plus Deluxe. I never used the net features. Now I have a different laptop with Windows8. When I attempt to activate, I get one message. Will it turn off in two months? Will this Sunset edition help Windows8?
I just got a brand new desktop that had Win8 64bit. I couldn t run Ms Money 2007 so I installed Sunset Deluxe. It works fine; no problem whatsoever. I didn t have any challenge with the activation.
I purchased Money extensively in a very number of businesses and possess account files returning to college to 1996, I have gone thru several versions of Money and am now using Money Plus although I don t know which year. I have just got a new high end IMAC27 as I became too frustrated together with the slower HP desktop. I additionally use a MacBook Pro but I don t run Money on it. I was beneath the understanding that using Fusion 5, I could run Money within the IMAC like it can be a Microsoft system. I don t use the internet features in Money but acquire more than 800 Payee names and more than 600 subcategories. I ve attemptedto delete some but it doesn't help. Any recommendations in regards to what Money version to attempt to install within the IMAC that will accept my Money files on the HP.
In case anyone stumbles upon this post, I planned to mention there s a brand new tool in existence that will restore Microsoft Money s power to get online quote data.
I are already using MS Money for a lot of years and also have downloaded the sunset home and business version recently. Today I ran in a perplexing challenge with a CD account that would not surface in earlier versions. We had two CD s mature in 2010 so we closed one plus the other one we acquired some money and rolled the remaining over to a different CD. Here is the condition: it no longer allows me to withdraw shares or withdraw all shares and close the account. When you make an effort to withdrawn a reduced amount of than the total value it merely ignores the command to penetrate. If you withdraw each of the shares it provides you with a warning message this transaction could potentially cause the account to travel negative at some future time, then ignores the command to penetrate. So how do i take out shares plus close down a CD account?

Ive been using Quicken for several years. I dont upgrade yearly, though, because you will discover no significant advantages in doing so. This year was no exception. I moved from a really stable 2013 to 2016. Now, frequently when I run Quicken I must kill the process because doing so hangs when I move between accounts. Ive not determined why, however, if I update banking information, then move in one account to a different to check balances, etc. it hangs. Ive learned its best to search in and simply do a very important factor, exit, then return. Thats somewhat sad. Otherwise, it essentially works and acts like 2013. So, what did I buy? The one benefit I did get is always that it not pesters me to upgrade. Thats good, I guess.
I give Quicken 2016 three stars because, despite its shortcomings, Quicken is pretty good software. What it will not be, however, will probably be worth the price it will cost to upgrade. Its definitely worth buying in case you dont have financial management software of any type, nevertheless the price in the upgrade is high for the purpose you get. The software virtually looks just like 2013 plus the versions year-after-year before that. Ive not found any new features to get me excited.
With respect towards the above, Ive been reminded of bills and pay bills electronically with Quicken for YEARS and is regarding the only reason I use Quicken. Read more

Let me you must do saying I purchase Quicken every year and still have been considering that the first version. I don't have any issues paying of the 50 annually. This software just isn't perfect but no software is nevertheless it has served me adequately over the years. When I installed 2016 it stopped syncing with my primary bank. All other functions worked fine. In fact this version feels EXACTLY like 2015. Other a few the latest features I see no difference in any respect except my primary bank don't syncs. Researching the challenge I found that this can be a know issue and they're working while using bank to eliminate it. I have had to revert returning to 2015 to regenerate full functionality.
My advise if that you are upgrading from 2015 is always to wait to get a few patch versions before upgrading.
Thank you on your feedback.

This Version is NOT ready for release. It has reset my file password to where it is not used. It has problems with the Quicken Intuit Account along with Product Registration. It has become at R2 Release. System is often a Windows 7 x64
Due to countless problems with this Version I am going back to Version 2015.
Update 03 Dec 2015, it's like R3 has fixed some on the noted issues, Intuit ID and Password issues looks fixed now.

Waste of income upgrading from 2015 to 2016. First, problem installing. Second, the syncing while using banks are worst off. I purchased it in hoping to possess better sync with banks. So far been a nightmare. I have already been Quicken user for just a long time. The last few release were merely disappointment. I am undecided if its Quicken or Synchrony Bank. As large and as much consumers making use of it, it shouldn't seem for being updating accurately. As far of the revolutionary features, I dont go to whichever differences by any means. Nothing but disappointment. Waste of 49.95:

If youre pondering up0grading an early on version on this software, forget it. This version basically does nothing that couldnt be accomplished using the 2010 version, and yes it adds a silly extra feature that will require you to log on on the Intuit Web site if you use it. I see pointless I should even have to become connected on the Internet to work with standalone software Ive bought and bought, not to mention signed on in an online account. This can be a plainly stupid unnecessary intrusion on our personal and financial privacy.
Thank you for ones feedback.

In yesteryear, I have complained immensely about Quicken - You should buy Quicken 2016 for those the reasons I were unsatisfied with Quicken 2015, 2014 and I purchase Quicken since 1995, this release is rock quite simply it really works and it fixes many in the items that never worked in 2015.
This review ought to be printed and put about the bulletin board in the development team. You guys really should be proud on this release. Thank you for utilizing the additional the perfect time to not release software that helped me a unpaid beta tester. I also felt like inside past, the Quicken team hid behind the scenes, this year they may be out front with free phone support along with a video with the in the group VP talking about the revolutionary release, along with his name and title, should I need thankfully I dont - the 2016 release is fantastic.
I could complain that 2015 users should have the update pro-bono, given each of the pain and agony anyone who had the stones to obtain and install the program in Sept - Dec 2015 underwent, I did and returned it after it wouldnt install and sucked 8 hours of my life using a Saturday, once i couldnt install the prior version. I waited for a lot of releases down the line, there was still issues - I could never get my wells fargo accounts to grant access within the mobile app - resolved with 2016 in addition to many other annoying issues.
On behalf of loyal Quicken product fans, thank you to your executive team to make what was probably a tricky decision and delaying the production and delivering a top quality you on the development teams with the great work. Hopefully when Intuit sells the merchandise, the modern owners will carry on and invest and care around the users as you could have demonstrated in 2016.
Thank you to your feedback.

Thank you on your continued support of Quicken! The team worked hard for making this one with the best and the majority efficient releases ever. It is encouraging to recognise that your exposure to Quicken 2016 continues to be so positive, so we look forward to continuing to provide quality releases inside the future.
Thanks again to your feedback!

New, free mobile apps work best reason to upgrade to Quicken 2013 from recent versions; otherwise, this capable but pricey finance manager appeal primarily to new users who prefer to maintain
Intuit this season increased prices of all Quicken editions by 10 over their previous levels. But it also provided extras within the form of free mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices that could sync transaction data from cash and bank card accounts you decide on from within the desktop software through a free of charge cloud service. In fact, the mobile appsвthe first Intuit has established for Quickenвare the key innovation using the 2013 editions.
I tried the iPad app, which looks quite handsome. It delivers some from the same graphics to visually depict spending patterns and trends you get using the desktop edition. It shows recent activity on accounts youve synced. If you create a budget for the desktop version, you are able to see how your current months spending in every single budget category stacks up from the amount youve budgeted. The idea here is always to provide information that could allow you to with a spending decision when you are away in the desktop.
You can also add items for an account register that could sync for the desktop version, however, you cannot perform transactions about the mobile app. It cant sync with investment accounts, either. And since many banking institutions provide their very own mobile apps which generally support transactions, the key reason make use of Quickens is a snapshot of one's overall spending while around the road.
Setting up mobile syncing is actually easy from your desktop software. A Mobile Alerts menu item describes a window from which it is possible to choose the accounts you would like to sync from, and you also then initiate syncing. In a similar window, you are able to also configure another new feature: alerts via email or word for financial events that you end up picking and customize from your list a characteristic that Mint also supports. Examples include budget overages, high bank fees, expensive purchases, low account balances, modifications to interest rates, and the like.
Quicken 2013s gui tweaks are incredibly modest. A grid view of your respective annual budget exposes more months in a time, so you are able to make adjustments for instance, to improve a category limit a single month using the big picture 100 % view or perhaps as much from it as your screen is capable of displaying.
Quicken also supports more layout customization than Mint. If you wish to change what you see whenever you launch this course, click on the Customize button clearly visible beneath the Main View label and you have a window with lists of accessible modules within the left pane that you may add to your right pane, which shows a report on modules already utilized.
While both Quicken and Mint offer planning tools for reducing debt or saving for any major purchase, Quicken can be additional helpful at tax time if you are using TurboTax, as it will import tax-related data from Quicken. This is useful, however, as long as youre diligent about entering and categorizing all tax-related transactions. Mint can export data to submit, which you are able to open in Excel as well as other spreadsheet program to massage your data, but theres not any specific support for tax form software.
Quickenвs biggest negative thing is Intuits sunset policy for supporting online services. A new edition of Quicken can download transactions for about 36 months; from then on, Intuit shuts support for online activity. The software will still function, and you also might be competent to import data manually. But with many accounts, youll should enter one transaction in a time. While Intuit says this plan is necessary given it costs too much to back up server-side operations for older versions for the thousands of loan companies that allow you to download transaction data into Quicken, we suspect Intuit uses the plan to force individuals upgrade to newer versions they otherwise wouldnt buy. As a no cost service, Mint doesnt sunset anything.
New, free mobile apps are the most effective reason to upgrade to Quicken 2013 from recent versions; otherwise, this capable but pricey finance manager appeal primarily to new users who prefer and keep their data around the desktop.
